Another Post Without Pictures!

I'm still packing up Christmas, but I'm making progress.  My son came today and got the big tree down and all three trees packed away.  He also got the big storage tubs put up in the garage.  I still have  to finish up the big figurines and the tubs that stay in the sunroom closet.  I can do those by myself, but it was surely nice to have his help with the heavy stuff!

I had swept up the mess of "fir" after packing the big tree, and had squatted down to pick up the pile with the dustpan.  For some reason, I just shifted to the left and went over on the floor, hitting my left thumb on my printer cabinet.  Of course, it is badly bruised, and I guess it hit a hinge or something.  Anyway, it bled a long time, but it will heal up someday!

I actually blame this fall and the Nov. 29 fall on the new glasses I got in late October.  The world has not been level since I got them; really everything seems to be on about a 30 degree uphill slope!  Last Monday I went back to my eye doctor, who turned me over to another doctor there for a re-check of the prescription.  She changed it quite a lot!  I took the new prescription to the place which had made the new lens.  They said it really was a big change.  I should get the new replacement lens next week; hopefully that will make life much easier for me!

Then Tuesday I went to see my regular doctor for antibiotics for the crud I've been fighting since Christmas.  All this crazy Texas weather, 70 one day and down to 20 the next, has everyone sick.  I showed her my leg from the Nov. 29 fall.  She almost had a fit!  She said I might have a blood clot and ordered an ultrasound imaging done on Wednesday.  Thank God, no blood clot was found!   So I guess I'll still just have to wait out the healing for that episode!

Life really is going to get better for me in 2017.  It just may be Spring before that happens!

Since my last post, for some reason I could not see any comments, and I just couldn't believe that no one had left a comment on that long epistle.  I got to digging around on the computer and finally discovered them all late last night.  Why they had not shown up as usual is still a mystery to me.  Anyway, rather than try to send each of you a reply, I hope you will accept this as my thanks for your sweet comments of concern for me.  Sandy even sent me a special e-mail which I appreciate so much.  Actually that's when I determined to find the comments I felt sure were somewhere.  So, thanks, Sandy.

Maybe it won't be too much longer until I can get started quilting again.  My friend and I did go to pick up our machines yesterday just as our terribly cold weather was blowing in again.  She brought mine in and set it in my cabinet, but I haven't even plugged it in yet to check it out.  I hope the service work has it running like a new machine again.

Thanks for all your concern and sweet comments.  I am going to get better soon!

  1. Oh Love - you have been in the wars! Those wonky glasses definitely didn't help. I' sure you are on the mend and will be back to full strength soon. Thanks for the info about the comments. I thought there was something wrong with my email. Hmmm, PC hiccoughs I guess.

  3. Apparently your glasses prescription wasn't filled properly? That happened to me once and my eyes adjusted to the bad glasses. The next time I went to a different eye doctor and he had to give me a couple different prescriptions to get my eyes to correct themselves gradually. I understand why you don't want to go to the doctor for every "little" thing, but I guess as we get older we probably need to. Ugh!! We have been putting our decorations away also - not too much more to go. Take care of yourself! BTW, sometimes just some of my comments don't show up, which is very strange.

  4. I am so glad to hear that you are okay, and that your leg will heal, along with your thumb! Your weather sounds as unpredictable as ours. Cold one day, and then extremely cold the next here.
My Christmas decorations have finally been packed away, although my Amaryllis is still blooming so it feels somewhat festive in my kitchen area.
Take care, Love. Here's to a productive and injury free rest of 2017!

  5. OH, so sorry to hear of another fall. The error in your glasses could very well be throwing things off. Hope the new ones fix that. Take it easy and feel better soon!
I just took down all of our Christmas stuff yesterday. What a job! Now the house looks empty but that will pass soon. Hope you can get back to quilting again very soon. You sound ready for a new project!

  6. Hi,
Thanks for you nice comment on my blog the other day. I didn't have a way to email you. Hopefully, you'll be quilting soon and can pick a quick project to finish. Take care, Kyle, Timeless Reflections.

  7. I can understand how a bad eyeglass prescription can lead to falls. I'm surprised you managed as well as you did all this time. I'm glad your leg is healing and I hope you'll be back to quilting soon. A little spot of quilting may not cure all, but it sure lifts my spirits! My Christmas tree is still up. I thought of taking it down this weekend, but if I wait till next Friday the kids will be done studying for their semester exams and can pitch in. I'll just have to enjoy the tree a little longer! It didn't go up until mid-December, so I'm not quite tired of it yet :)
