A Fun Day in Dallas

What a beautiful day it was Friday for going to the Dallas Quilt Show, and what a show it was! Lots of gorgeous quilts!

One of the high points for me was getting to meet Theri, one of our APQ Blogger Buddies, and spending a few minutes with her before my group had to leave. She is such a cutie, with such a lovely smile! Her Block entry was perfect, and won a Second place ribbon, even though she said they had it hung wrong. *grin*  I think her Kite had an Honorable Mention ribbon. (Theri, correct me if I'm wrong on that.) Anyway, in my opinion, the judges really missed the call on that one; in my eyes, it deserved a blue ribbon! Up close and personal, the wall hanging is beautiful, and the detail and workmanship both were incredible!

There were so many beautiful quilts; there's no way to show them all, but here are a few of my favorites.  Some of my pictures are not the best.  You may need to double-click on some of them for the best close-up look for details.

(Hand appliqued quilted! My Favorite!)

There was a special exhibit which I had seen at Houston several years ago, but it was still just as impressive as it was the first time. It is the Ground Zero Quilt. Please read the maker's story that was posted by the quilt before you scroll down to the pictures below. The quilt is awesome! Let us never forget!

AGAIN, LET US NEVER FORGET!

It was a beautiful day, and a wonderful show! I got home just in time to go to my Sunday School Class party that evening, which was the ending to a perfect day!

The other photos show some truly beautiful quilts -- the Ground Zero quilt is almost unbelievable.

  2. What beautiful quilts you've chosen to show us. That hummingbird one looks like something my mom would like - do you know if it was an original design? The 9-11 quilt is incredible. I hadn't seen it before, so thank you for sharing. And what fun for you to meet Theri!
