More of the Quilt Show

NOTE (for Love's use only):  NOT A NEW POST --- This was actually posted May 7, 2011, not in September.  Somehow, while adding labels, the original date disappeared, and in my blog listing, it now shows the hour of the edit, and not the day of posting.  It moved up to the top of my blogs again, and I have no idea how to fix it!  ---  Now back to the original May 7 post! *frown*  Actually you need to just skip what follows here, and go down to my September 3 post!
----------
Weren't Ruth's quilt show pictures beautiful??!!  Be sure to look at the hummingbirds again and notice how the quilting of the wings shows the air fluttering!  Incredible!  All of them!

I thought I'd share a few more of the Arlington show pictures that caught our eyes too.  I'm not as good a photographer as Ruth, but you should be able to see why we liked these too.  I didn't take time to crop or edit them, but probably should have.  Double click to see more detail.

Excellent paper piecing!

This one had piping at the binding!
I'm still trying to figure out how that was done!
And that tiny string of rectangles on point,
near the outside of the borders,
were actually pieced!  Not a border print!

Little girl dresses were very popular!

Here's another, with lots of piecing!

I loved these pieced birds and birdhouses!

Another beautiful Civil War quilt!

The Celtic pattern and quilting are very nice,
but the braided border is what caught my eye!
The outside border had quilting in every white swirl!

I think this one was made by Ruth's guild.  Right, Ruth?  Nice quilt!
Unfortunately, Ruth was out of town visiting family,
and didn't get a block in it.

And of course, from a Texas show, you would expect this!

On the way home, I noticed a flea market.  I rarely go to those things, but it was next door to an antique shop I wanted to visit, so I walked through the flea market first, and found this!

I spent a whole Fifty Cents for it!
It will accomodate an 8-inch quilt!
I think I have my work cut out for that!

It truly was a fun day!  It is so much fun to tour a quilt show with someone who likes basically the same style quilts, and also someone who likes soup and salad!  We ate at the Sweet Tomato, which is a "souper" salad bar!  Of course, we finished it off with a chocolate brownie, topped with ice cream and chocolate syrup!

This week I've added a little more quilting to the Winnie the Pooh baby quilt and also making stars for The Wave Salute, as well as whipping down the binding on that one.  Will show it next time!

We are currently having a severe lightening show, so I better close this down!

Hope you are having as much fun as I am!

The quilts were amazing. I don't know how anyone could pick a favorite. I did really like those little dresses, and the birds, oh see what I mean?
Thanks for taking us to the show.

  7. Read this post the other day and it seems blogger lost my comment. Love the quilts, but then at a quilt show, who doesn't? The little stand was a bargain. I love flea markets!

  8. I can't believe it. I bought the very same "little quilt" rack at a swap meet. I don't think I paid .50, but I'm sure I did't pay more than a dollar. Mine was unpainted and I painted it red. Haven't made a quilt for it yet - will be watching to see what you come up with.
