My First 2012 Finish!

I finally got the binding finished on this simple little baby quilt for a friend. I knew I would not have time to piece one, so I got this printed panel from Hobby Lobby. It is crib size, 42 x 57". I just straight stitched on each line around the little blocks. Hope the mother likes it for her tiny adopted baby boy they have waited for so long!

I never did show my latest Civil War fabric purchases, so here they are:

That larger light piece is "Primitive Muslin" by Primitive Gatherings for Moda. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it blends so well with almost all the CW fabrics I have, so I emptied the bolt and bought a little more than a yard of it.

Now, that the baby quilt is out of the way, and if I can just make myself finish packing away Christmas, maybe I can put some of those fabrics to use in some more Civil War blocks soon.

I still have a couple more little throws I had wanted to make before Christmas, so I'll be working on those along the way too. I'm determined to get them gifted before winter is over! (Hopefully!)

It's been good to read all the New Year blogs. Seems like everyone has a new surge of interest!

Happy quilting!

  2. The baby quilt is very sweet and I don't think it will be loved any less because it's a panel. The Civil War fabrics are pretty and will add nice variety to your blocks.

  4. Those little animals are so cute. The fabric has so many cute motifs you didn't need to piece anything.
Your CW fabric looks so pretty. I am sure you will make some lovely blocks with it.
I have 99% of my Christmas decorations packed and put away. My village is still out, I just wasn't ready to put it away yet. I left a few snowmen out too, the ones that don't scream Christmas. I did it over a few days so it didn't seem like such a huge job. My husband always says "a little at a time".
Take your time, you are always really busy around the holidays.
    Happy stitching

  5. The panel baby quilt is darling and they might not even know the difference! I gave my sister a panel quilt and she didn't know it was a panel & not pieced! Your CW fabrics are great. I only have a couple pieces of one of them - it's the 3rd row down, the first to the right of the middle break. I got it out of a scrap bin at Lone Star House of Quilts. I don't know why people rush to put away the Christmas decorations! I like to enjoy them a while.
