| Week 47 - Dixie Tea and Week 48 - West Virginia |
As soon as I could see well enough to drive, I went on up to the quilt store where I bought the fabrics for the West Virginia block above, and then back to Hobby Lobby where I bought some Christmas fabrics.
I already had the top center green and the Christmas card at the top right, but I found just the right cream and the light green print in the center row to match what I had. (Sorry; the picture tonight is not very good!) The bottom right green is to go with the leftovers from the purple/green FMQ practice quilt I gave to my little friend. I'll do something with it someday, but wanted to get that while it is still available; I had not seen it when I got the purple/green earlier. I love the three red Christmas fabrics. The stripe in the middle has a little gold thread woven into it. I'm hoping the red Christmas stamps on the bottom left will work with the Christmas postcard fabric I had bought at the last quilt show. We'll see someday maybe.
Rain is nearby and predicted for this area tonight and tomorrow; we certainly need it.
I'm hoping everyone has a wonderful and relaxing week-end, with some quilting time too!

You are making excellent progress with your civil war blocks. Dixie Tea leaf has always been a maple leaf for me :) I really like the West Virginia block too. It might just be an incentive for me to learn to miter corners. Enjoy your Christmas fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI'm not suprized the block with mitered corners went together well - you've had a lot of practice using that technique with borders. They both look great and I love your new fabrics. I can't wait to see what wonderfulness you turn them into. And I truly hope it rains for you. We went for quite a while without any and finally have had a lot of rainy days clustered together. I hear the collective sigh of relief from the farmers around here and hope you get to hear that soon around you as well.
ReplyDeleteHello;) Catching up on posts here...glad everyone's eyes are doing okay. I almost poked my eye out when I was eight...was living in Okinowa and they used these hanger things that looked like ocotpus legs with upward hooks. Stepped off the deck and snagged one in between my eyeball and eyelid. Tore the muscles for the eyelid, but (thankfully) didn't do any damage to the eye itself. Took several years to get the eyelid to work right agaain. Anyway....love all the blocks you have been making and the fabric finds look wonderful;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting!!
The CW blocks are looking good! I really want to get mine put together this year - maybe after this trip. I'm so happy your GS's eye is going to be OK. Kids!! We are staying at a "cottage" with our kids & grandkids and having a wonderful time. Jonah and Abigail are having so much fun together! They want to get married - at age 4!! We've been to the beach twice and our 16 year old grandson has made 2 sand castles. I will probably post some pictures when I have some time.
ReplyDeleteHey, you go Love. Do you have enough blocks made yet to put them together?

I went to the eye doctor for the first time in years this spring. I think I paid $40 extra to use a fancy machine just so they wouldn't dilate my eyes and I could go back to work. I think anytime you have doctors messing with your vision warrants a trip to the fabric store!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see all these Civil War blocks go together. It's going to be an incredible piece of art when you are complete!
Everytime you post new CW blocks I have a new favorite. This will be a fantastic quilt when you get it put together.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some fun new fabrics. (I think I have the same post card fabric).
Happy stitching.
