The Wildflowers Spoke to Me!

I just hope I interpreted correctly what they said!

The borders will begin at the edge of my bed and hang down.  Right now the direction looks wrong against the center blocks, but this one will never hang anyway, so the flowers will be upright on either the top or side of the bed.  I may put another black, and then yellow and blue narrow border like the ones around the center blocks, and then bind in black.  Or I may just bind what you now see with black, which will be the same as between the rectangle blocks.  If I go with more yellow,  I will have to go back to the store.  Wouldn't that be awful?

I wish I had the other side and the top and bottom borders done, but I have only the one side on; just had to see what it would look like before I made the other side.

The Youth Auction went very well yesterday; raised over $6,000!  I was very disappointed when the anonymous big quilt brought only $350.  I don't know who got my small flag table topper, or how much it brought in; missed out totally at the silent auction; they called it "closed" before I even looked around.  So I said I'd just write a check for the amount I had decided I could spend, but as I got out my wallet, they started my "whacky pledge" quilt in the Live auction, so I started bidding and got to bring it back home with me  and help the kids too!  I had said earlier that I really would like to keep it, so now I can and I won't have to make another patriotic one by July 4 like I always do.  That's good!

Got to go to the old dismantled quilt guild group and show off my "whacky pledge" and the wildflowers and the border.  I'm hoping I didn't crash this one while flying by the seat of my pants!   Would anyone be willing to fly with me????  *giggle*  You will have to look at this one again when I get it all finished.

Hope you are having as much fun as I've had today.

  1. I like your floral borders! A classic garden feature. That's a fantastic result for your fundraiser but a real shame that the quilts didn't make as much as you had hoped. At least Whacky Pledge is back home with you.

  2. The borders are perfect with the rest of the quilt. The black frames really set off those gorgeous fabrics. Nice job! ! ! The money raised for the youth group is great even if the special quilt didn't bring as much as hoped. That is a special quilt, hope it found a good home. And you get Whacky Pledge back, it is perfect for the July 4th decorating. It is a beautiful little quilt, too. I'll be looking forward to what comes next!

  3. I thought of your quilt when I opened my latest Row By Row box (see today's post) and saw floral prints everywhere. Such a wonderful, springy quilt and I love the idea to have the flowers that will hang over the edges go the right way. That takes a little more work, but will be well worth the effort in the end. Will you be keeping this one?
