Oops! What Happened Here?

Today I was almost finished pinning a little Christmas table runner when I noticed something wrong.  I had only two more 4-patches to pin when I discovered it!  I could have cried!

I still can't believe it!
Only two blocks left to pin, and I could have begun quilting!  Duh!

What's even worse is that I have shown to several friends, and they never said a word!  If indeed they did notice, they better keep it to themselves now, or I just might have to hurt them!

But that's not all!  I must be the most observant quilter on the planet; better make that UN-observant!  On June 22, I took this picture of the top and even loaded it onto my computer and still didn't notice anything wrong!
New layout maybe???
Well, I ripped out the block, turned it, got it sewed in correctly, and will try to quilt it tomorrow if I can decide how.

My piecing is never perfect, but I don't remember ever making such a stupid mistake as this one!

Have you ever done anything similar?  Want to share?  I need a good laugh after my big cry!

  1. I didn't see it at first either. Annoying isn't it? I do it all the time. Check out my Solomon's Temple blocks. There was no way I was ripping that one out.

  2. I did the same thing with a small mini quilt I was making. I didn't unsew. I named the quilt "Marching to the tune of a different drummer". Solved the problem for me.

  3. Oh I wish I could say that I have only done it once. But I have made lots of mistakes. To err is human..... I just rip and restitch. Ideally those mistakes get noticed before I quilt them. Once I quilt they are done no matter what. ;)
