It was reportedly 104 degrees yesterday at DFW, and I think it was here too. Today hasn't seemed as bad, except that my A.C. is showing signs of serious illness! I called the repairman today, but of course, he can't be here until Monday. It's still working a bit, but needs freon no doubt. Thank goodness for ceiling fans in every room!
My new quilting buddy came back on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, and we worked on our patriotic panels. She is doing well with hers, but hasn't quilted in many months or more, and is taking it slow. I'm sure she will do well with it in time.
I got mine finished and hung today. I'm out of hanging places for one as large as this one, and had to move some others around to find a place. The place is not perfect (not wide enough), and neither is the quilt perfect, but I like it and it's finished! It is 47" x 31". A little late for July 4, but I didn't even own the panel then, and hadn't really planned to make another patriotic this year. I agreed only to try to help my friend. Of course, all I did to the panel was add a couple of borders and some free motion on the statue, flag, and letters, and none of it really shows in the picture. I also quilted little diamonds around those little red stars at the top and bottom, and that turned out well; it just doesn't show in the picture. (I need a lesson in quilt photography!) I do love that panel; it expresses the desire of my heart!
On Thursday my other two church quilter buddies spent the day here again, and they got the border on the pastor's quilt and took turns quilting on it, I prepared the binding and label, and one of them will stitch the binding on soon, and that one will be finished too. That will be good! We haven't decided when to deliver it, but I hope soon.
This is the second week in a row that I've had three quilters in my home on three days. I guess you know by now that I love having them here, and apparently they love to come to my home. (Yeah; I do feed them lunch! *giggle*) Today has been nice and quiet. I actually sandwiched a couple of those Christmas table toppers, and hope to do a little quilting tomorrow on them.
Hope everyone is staying cool (or warm, depending on where you are), and in either case, I hope you are having fun with your quilting.

Yikes! That is hot. High summer in Sydney those temps. A/C always goes on the blink on days like these. Your patriotic wall-hanging is fabulous! Quilting with company is a pleasant way to spend a day that's for sure and I suspect the delicious spread you put on would have them coming back for more!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I love it! We are supposed to have another 100 degree day today, but then back to the 90's for a couple days and then 80s after that mostly. At least we get it a lot cooler at night - usually in the 50s.
ReplyDeleteThe panel looks great! I am back after a break from blogging. Missed everyone. Lots of stuff going on, but I hope I can find time to keep up with my blogging friends.
