January 31, 2018 --- and I Have A Finish!

------but it's not a quilty finish!

Today at 6 PM, I finally got all of Christmas packed away, and the sunroom restored to order, floor mopped and everything!  Best and only finish I've had this year!  I am so happy; ...and tired!

Last week I had a serious delay in my packing.  I woke up Sunday before last with either food poisoning or a severe virus.  I've never been so sick in my life!  A friend dropped some meds by after church.  I wouldn't even go to the door until she had driven off; I didn't want to risk exposing her!  My tail was dragging until Thursday morning, when I began to feel a little better and could start doing a little packing.  My son kept wanting to take me to the doctor, but several schools around here have been closed due to the flu, and the doctors' offices and ER rooms have been packed with sick people coughing and blowing.  In my weakened state, I didn't need to be exposed to the flu, so I just toughed it out at home, totally alone; didn't let anyone in my home.  I didn't start my car even for ten days!  But I'm feeling much better now, thank goodness!

Actually, not everything is packed away yet really.  I decided to keep three Christmas floral arrangements and my poinsettia/redbird wall hangings out for a while longer.  I'm really enjoying them, and they will be no problem to put away closer to Spring.

I am ten blocks behind on my Moda Block Heads blocks,  Not sure when I'll catch up on those; but I will finally get them finished and together at some point.  Before I get those finished, I'll probably try to quilt some tops along the way. I'm going to try not to start anything else new until I get at least one quilted!

Now it's time to zero in on my secret project for several days.  Maybe I can share about it in two or three weeks.  It's turning into more work than I had anticipated, but I am enjoying the process, and will much more now that Christmas is out of the way.  Maybe life will return to normal someday,  whatever that is!

I've enjoyed seeing all the pretty things everyone has been working on.  Some of you are really staying busy, and have lots of pretties finished to start 2018.

I'm really weary tonight; got to hit the sack!

  4. Oh, my, there has been so much sickness this winter! I'm glad to hear you are so much better after being so sick. I'm way behind on my Moda blockhead blocks as well as I haven't really made any for over a month. There are so many projects to work on!!! Hope you continue to feel better and soon will be well enough to get back to quilting!

  5. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better (schools and daycares here are closing because of the flu, too...funny, I never remember that happening to my school as a kid...wonder why?) and that you have a finish, even if it's not a quilty one! We habe a small Christmas tree that I just put away Sunday! (We didn't put any ornaments on it this year due to the new kitten, but I realized in tidying up for company Sunday afternoon that it was still sitting there! We'd gotten so used to seeing it, I think we forgot it was there!) I'm curious about the secret project, but I know you'll share in due time. Now go work on some quilting!

  6. Sorry to hear you have been sick, the bugs going around this year have been bad ones. I hope you continue to feel better. Yea, Christmas is packed away until next year. The decorations look so nice during the season but eventually they have to get back into storage. The house always looks kind of bare for a while after the holidays. Now it's time to have some fun quilting!
