"What Cancer Cannot Do"

I finished my little panel Sunday morning and want to share with you.  It will be donated to next our church youth auction, whenever that is.  It was scheduled for April 26, but of course that won't be happening.   I think I'll keep it here until then.  I'm thinking there will be much less exposure in my home than in the church office.

Color is off here, as usual.  It is the same solid color as the in blue print in the top.
Sunday I listened to my church service on Facebook, and some of the Sunday School teachers' lessons that were there too for the first time.  Then I listened to music on YouTube most of the afternoon.

All was going well until about 5:45 PM, when I decided to straighten up the sunroom.  It was a mess from my quilting and various other things, mostly paper, I had scattered around.  I was at the cabinet where I cut fabric, and was cutting some paper strips for grocery lists when all of a sudden, I got very dizzy and down I went backwards, on my left shoulder and back.  Ouch!  The cutter and ruler I was using were on the floor too!  I laid there several minutes on that hard floor, and decided maybe I could scoot on my side to the den carpet.  I managed to drag my cane and walker with me, but I couldn't get up!  Again I laid there a few minutes, looked at the phone in my pocket and decided to call my DIL to tell my son to come straight here from his job when he got off work at 7 PM.   I should have known he would call my quilter friend who also has a key.  She and her husband beat my son here about 10 minutes and got me down the hall to the bathroom, and then in my bed!  I still just couldn't hold my head up; everything was totally out of control.   Since my son was here, they left in a few minutes.

Son stayed a few minutes, gave me my nightly meds, made sure I didn't want or need to go to the ER, and then I convinced him to go home, which he did.  I knew I would just sleep it off.  Had to get up one time during the night, made it just fine, and then slept until 9:15 this morning.   I have a bad bruise on my left elbow, and my shoulder and back are sore, as well as my left hip, but hey, I wasn't about to go to the ER!  Today I'm no worse off than I am lots of days; haven't done much, but that's okay too!

Still have to make the label for the fire quilt still, but there' s no rush on that.  Maybe I'll start another little project tomorrow or the next day.  I still need to clean this sunroom first.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's recent blogs, and hope all is going well with everyone.

Just one final note:  you realize I'm sure, that tomorrow will be the end of the first quarter of 2020!  Can you believe it?  Oh dear me!  I haven't accomplished much!  Hope you have!

  1. Oh my! You are one lucky lady to have taken so many spills and broken nothing. I hope you continue to be so lucky, but even more so, hope that these dizzy spells lessen. I know it's a long shot, but I'm willing to go for it! I'm very glad you didn't have to go to the ER. Tell your son and neighbors thank you from me, too, for being there to take care of you. The quilt is beautiful and will be there when the time comes. So much of life is on hold right now, I'm trying to keep quilting because it is one thing that doesn't have to be.

  3. Your quilt is so soft and pretty looking. I'm sure it will be a big hit at the auction. I know you feel good about being able to help and contribute to a good cause. Sorry to hear about the fall, I'm so glad you did not break anything. You must have strong bones. I hope you can accomplish the things you want to get done without any more falls. Take care of yourself!

  4. I haven't been reading blogs very regularly lately, so I just saw yours. I was thinking the same thing about you having strong bones while I was reading. It's too bad you don't get any warning so you can sit down first. I'm so sorry. I wish there was something the doctors could do about this. The quilt is lovely and I like the way you quilted it!
