Actually I like the spelling, Hoo-ray, better, but I looked it up and both are acceptable. Could it be I'm from Texas? *wink*
Okay, back to quilting! Seems like all I've worked on the past week or two have been red, white, and blue. I did get the ties on the flag quilt shown in my last blog; the guy called, and he will bring the flag pole in time for the auction. The Youth Director (in charge of the auction) said he wants to put The Star Spangled Banner and flag pole in the live auction. I've never had a quilt in a live auction, so that will be fun to watch. I hope it does well and will help some kids go to summer camp.
I also finished another little flag piece that will be in the silent auction. It is 18"x15", and is actually a cheater cloth I've had for years! I wish I had put a little thicker batting in it before I stitched and turned it. Then when I hand stitched around each yo-yo, it would have been a little more puffy. I like it better as a table topper, or just lying on the back of my love seat, but I put a hanging sleeve on it too, just in case anyone ever wants to hang it. It fools everyone who sees it --- until they get close and touch it. *giggle*
Best news of all is that my quilter called, and I picked up my two big patriotic Founding Fathers' Quotes quilts on Tuesday. She did a fantastic job on both of them! Of course, with working on the two auction items this week, I didn't get to work on them until today. I got both trimmed, and got the hanging sleeve and binding machine stitched on one today, ready for the hand stitching. Again ----"Hoo-ray"!!! So now you know what I'll be doing next week! I'll be working on the red, white, and blue again! *grin*
Yep, I'm a proud American and Texan!
I hope everyone has a great Sunday, and a good week of quilting. I'm certainly looking forward to it!

That's one sneaky cheater cloth! You did a great job.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the auction!
And here I was thinking how much patience you must have had to sit and sew all those yo-yos! I hope it and your Star Spangled Banner both do well in the auction. I plan to have a good week of quilting - I took the week off work!
ReplyDeleteWow, that flag really looks like it's made of yo-yos! I am sure your quilt will do well at the auction.

I thought the flag was just yo-yos. Great job. Good luck with both auctions, I know you will do well. Connie204
ReplyDeleteIt really does look like yo-yo's, I had to look really close to see that it wasn't. It is great! I hope you do well in the auctions! Glad to hear your two Founding Father's quilts are back from the quilter and you are working on the binding. Can't wait to see them all done!
ReplyDeleteYour yo-yo quilt looks great. I was thinking I'd like to do one sometime. I am sure your projects will do well at auction.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear your quilts got back from the quilter AND that you are happy with the results.I am sure those bindings will be on in no time!
( PS I forgot.. glad you are a pround American, we need to be proud and work together in tough times.)
