How long has it been since you've read any of your old blogs? I mean those OLD ones you printed.
Some of you will remember our discussion about printing our blogs before they were deleted from the previous website we were using to record our quilting "histories". Well, I printed all mine, and still print my current blog. Yesterday I had a few minutes to spare, and I began reading some of them. My very first blog entry was on March 27, 2008, and what a mess it was! So were many of those that followed; it took me a long time to learn how to post pictures. I'm surprised that anyone stuck with me through those days, or in fact, even today.
As I read more last night, I had to laugh a lot, not only at what I had written, but also at some of your comments. It was a most enjoyable evening of reading. If you've not read your old blogs that you printed for your notebook, I'd suggest you do that for an evening's enjoyment. I wish that in addition to printing my blog entries, I had saved each one into a Word file before they were all deleted by the website. I think Alice suggested that, but I didn't follow the advice. Maybe we should save our current ones to a flash drive? ---Nah, I guess printing them is enough; who but us would ever want to read them anyway, much less read them from a flash drive --- that might even be obsolete by the time we are gone!
It was amazing to me that some of you who welcomed me to your blogging community on that first post are still encouraging me through your comments, and also through your own blogs as I follow them. Truly we have become "family", and I'm so grateful for the new "quilting cousins" who have joined us since those early days!
I did write one long epistle back then that impressed even me as I read it last night. *grin* There will be an appropriate time coming before too long hopefully when I plan to re-type it into this blog for your reading again. (Now doesn't that sound serious? *giggle*) You'll just have to wonder for a while what it says that spoke to me again; I think maybe after all this time, it will make more sense to you too.
For now I've got to go finish basting that hanging sleeve on the church quilt. I think I've told you it is being basted only, so that it may be quickly removed when the quilt goes to the new owner. Then I've got to wipe the dust off the furniture; the church quilters are coming here Thursday for a salad luncheon. I'm not going to worry too much about cleaning; they all know about quilters' housekeeping! I'm going to make strawberry pies for the dessert! Yummy!!
I have 30 string blocks finished, so if I get time today, I'll play with arranging them a bit and have some pictures next time.
Hope you are getting some quilting done this week.

We learn best from experience. I haven't read my early posts lately, but I'm sure they weren't perfect. And I don't suppose those I've written lately are much better. :) But you do have me curious about the re-post. And the string blocks!
ReplyDeleteI've saved some of my blog posts. I lost all of the ones that were on the original
ReplyDeleteAPQ site, but I have almost a whole book from when I was on 360. I've started saving them to a word file for now...until I can spend money on printer ink;)
Happy Quilting!!
I read all of your posts before they were deleted, but I don't remember this special one, so I am looking forward to seeing it (sometime soon?).
ReplyDeleteYour salad lunch with strawberry pie for dessert sounds delicious, and I can't wait to see pictures of your string blocks!

Always so timely, Love. I just dropped my computer off for service.I didn't save any posts from APQ and I haven't printed any from here either. It is a good idea and I do have an external hard drive, so I better get right on that before I lose my blog!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great lunch. Hope to see more string blocks soon.
Awe- we are are such a happy blogging family!! I'm so glad we all made the big move over to blog land. I really should print my posts as well :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Chritine, I'm really glad we are all here, too. I'm also looking forward to the Post you plan to put out here for us again.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberry pie sounds heavenly! Do you have a good recipe you would like to share?
Glad to hear your string blocks are going well, too. That will be a beautiful quilt.
Hmm, wonder if I was even blogging when that post was written? You gonna share that pie?
ReplyDeleteLiri
In some ways it is a shame they deleted all our old posts, especially as I never got a chance to save mine. Oh well, friendships can't be deleted and I'm glad our little community is still going strong. :)
ReplyDeleteWe can always count on you Love! Haven't we had quite the journey. I'm looking forward to your re-post and like Liri, rather fancy a strawberry pie. Lucky church quilters! ann...
ReplyDeleteYUM! I haven't had breakfast yet. Strawberry pie sounds just right.
ReplyDeleteI didn't save my blogs either. I really am very surprised I was even able to do a blog, thanks to you. I have to say I did miss the blogging before I got here. I can't wait to see the old blog and string quilt. Have a great lunch. Connie204
