Finally A Finish on "Patriotic Points"!

Well, here I am back again, at least for a little visit!  It's been too-o-o long!

I've been reading the wonderful blogs by everyone, but I've been neglectful again in adding my comments to each one.  Just know that I've enjoyed every one, and your progress and/or quilts have been beautiful!  It was great to see that Theri is back with us, and bringing us more of her beautiful birds!

I'm on the mend, but still experiencing a lot of pain, and because of complications with medications, the remedy will be delayed a little longer.  Can't have any blood thinners for another two months, and what I need to take care of the pain has blood thinners, so here I sit!  As I've said many times before, gettin' old certainly is not for sissies!

I finally got the quilting and binding finished on "Patriotic Points", and it will be auctioned next week to help pay summer camp fees for the church youth group.  Several ladies in our church quilting group are donating a variety of projects too, along with other items from others.  Mine is 48.5" x 48.5".  The backing is like the flag fabric in the center of the star.  It was cloudy this morning, and I couldn't get the lighting right to show my quilting in the light portions.  Some of it shows better on the backing.  (It's all straight line, but suits me.)

I've washed fabric today from my stash for another donation quilt for Relay for Life.  My oldest GS asked me to make one; he is planning on being in the race with his mother, and then they will also have an auction. Hope to get it all pressed today; I think I have until June to finish it, and as slow as I am, it will probably take me most of that time!

I also bought fabric for another little quilt for myself, and will use the same pattern as the Relay for Life one.  Here's what I got for myself:  (You might know it would have pink roses!)  I've since bought another piece that will probably replace the one closest to the green fabric.
Guess I'll go press fabric a while.

Happy quilting, everyone!

  1. Well, you are certainly right about that "gettin' old is not for sissies". I sometimes wake up with aches and pains on top of the aches and pains I already knew were there. Seriously, I hope you feel better soon, Love. Love your quilts and I really like the rose fabric!

  3. Patriotic points is a winner! Hope it brings lots of $$ for the kids.
Even more than that I hope you feel better real soon. Hurting is just no fun at all.
Looking forward to seeing the quilts you are starting.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear you're not mending as quickly as you'd hoped. I hope it will get better soon! The patriotic quilt is wonderful and there is nothing wrong with straight-line quilting. I look forward to seeing what those pretty fabrics become.

  6. The quilt is awesome! I hope it brings in a decent price - it definitely should! I'm glad you were able to get it finished, but sorry you are having a slow recovery. It must be frustrating, but hang in there! I'm so sorry that I missed your blog before today. Google Reader isn't working like it used to and I'm trying to get Bloglovin set up - it's not been automatic for me. Plus, I've been real busy and haven't spent much time blogging. We had a garage sale Friday & Saturday - lovely weather.
