It's been so long since I posted anything, I had to look back to know where to begin again! First thing every morning and last thing at night, I check and read everyone's blog, and have enjoyed more than I could ever say, even though I've made very few comments. Hopefully I'll get back in the groove on that next week.
The patriotic quilt in my last post brought $75 in the youth auction. I was a little disappointed, but nothing, and I mean nothing including big electric grills and other large expensive items, was bringing what it was worth. In comparison, I guess the quilt did okay. Buyers with money just were not there that night! I think they ended up with about $4000 maybe.
I talked to the family who bought the quilt, and they will be giving it to their teen-age granddaughter for Christmas. She is a very patriotic person I was told, so I'm glad it will go to a good home.
The fabrics in my last post are still lying around, just like in the picture. I haven't started it yet, but hope to before long. I do have reasons for the delay. I plan to use the same pattern as the quilt below.
I had mentioned that I would be making a quilt for the Relay for Life raffle in our town, and I did. This is what I made, but decided not to donate it. Here it is: (39" square)
I decided that a patriotic-themed quilt might do better in June, just before July 4. So I got a red/white/blue table runner made and pinned ready to quilt. Then it dawned on me that this quilt is to be for a "cancer" raffle, and I decided to get the "What Cancer Cannot Do" panel, and here is the quilt I will donate for the raffle. Hopefully the message will override my mistakes!
Meanwhile, today I'm trying to quilt the patriotic table runner, but not having much luck.
I'm feeling much better than when I last posted, but still not out of the woods. More doctor visits are coming up in the next couple of weeks, and maybe things can get squared around then.
My oldest son recently had a somewhat serious problem related to his brain surgery several years ago and had to spend a few days in the hospital. He is now back at work and doing well, but this mother was certainly worried until all the test results came back good! (Don't ever forget - God is Good!)
Texas certainly has had its share of storms and catastrophes recently, and I just now heard that more than 10" of rain has flooded San Antonio today! No doubt Oklahoma has had more than their share of storms!
Guess I should stop this rambling and go try to do a little more quilting.
Hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day as we honor those who continue to keep us free, as others have in the past! (That reminds me! It's time to get all my patriotic quilts out around the house!)

"Love" so very happy to see a post from you. Glad to hear that your son is back at work and doing well. Looks like you have been doing some quilting. That is more than I can say.
ReplyDeleteBe well.
And I do remember all the men and women who gave up their lives to protect mine. Maybe I can even find my R/W/B quilts in the storage locker.......hmmmm
Welcome Back Love! You certainly have been missed in these parts but as always you have returned with a flourish. Both quilts are wonderful adn you seem to whip them up in the blink of an eye. It's a shame the auction quilt didn't raise as much as you hoped but I guess times are tough. We have been seeing the aftermath of the storms and weather and can't fathom the totality of the destruction. Heartened to see friends, family, neighbours and strangers rally to offer help and hope to this in need.
ReplyDeleteYes! It is good to see your post!! I'm sure the cancer quilt will be encouraging to someone. I really like the way you designed it and the fabrics look great - especially the pink roses! I'm hoping that your appointments go well next week!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear from you again. And I'm glad you are doing better and I hope you get everything taken care of so you are back to feeling really well. It's also good to hear your son is feeling well again. No matter how old they are, they are still our kids! Your quilts are lovely, you do such a nice job. I love the soft colors. We are looking forward to hearing more from you!
