My sewing machine finally came out of hibernation, and it is stitching like a charm!
I awoke feeling much better last Friday, and spent some time digging through my stash, trying to match up some Christmas fabrics. I decided to try a simple table runner similar to one I had made last year. (Yes, I know that's cheating, but I was just trying to get motivated again, and it worked!)
I finished the binding last night, after quite a struggle! I usually cut my bindings at 2.25", but I had only enough fabric to cut it at 1.5". Can you believe I managed to do my usual double fold binding? Actually, I think I like the really narrow binding on the small piece. I will attach a small ring on the back at one point, and add a mini-hanging sleeve for a tiny removable rod to keep it from curling in the event it is ever hung.
I have enjoyed so much all the blogs you APQ Bloggers have been writing. Obviously everyone is as eager as I am to get back to quilting after Christmas. I've also enjoyed chasing down some of your other favorite blog sites. I had never imagined there are so many quilting bloggers with some really neat websites, with good tutorials on almost every phase of quilting. That chase brightened my down days last week!
Now I've got to decide what to work on next!
Just a word of warning: I'm going to post a bit of foolishness right after this one. I have tried for over an hour to add another picture on this post where I want it, but so far, it always goes right at the top --- where I do NOT want it! APQ Bloggers will understand my foolishness; new readers may have a problem. *wink*

That is a very cute runner! I'm glad you are feeling better, and are back at your machine, stitching away! Blogger can be a bit of a pain when adding pictures, I've done lots of dragging and dropping to get them where I want, not always successfully!
ReplyDeleteYour table runner is very pretty and the narrow binding looks great! Glad to hear you are feeling better and you are back at your sewing machine. I feel a sore throat coming on but I've had lots of vitamin C and some hot tea with honey so maybe that will chase it away quickly. I've got quilting to do! ! !

What a lovely runner. For the record, I don't think making a similar pattern more than once is cheating - it just means you really liked it the first time around! Your "bit of foolishness" in your next post is very cute. My daughter would love for the ones in our yard to hang around for pictures! -Joanne
ReplyDeleteThat's a real sweetie Love and a terrific start to our Christmas Projects Plan. You can replace your pictures anywhere in your post by doing this:
ReplyDeleteClick on the image in the post - make sure it has the little *handles* in each corner/sides.
Hold down the Ctrl key and X (Cutting) and then insert the cursor where you want the picture to be.
Hold down Ctrl key and C (paste) and the picture should appear.
Give it a try and email me if it doesn't work.
Cheers, Ann :-)
Your runner is so cute. I like everything about it. Already working on Chrismas... you ARE GOOD.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem when I tr to post pictures. I'll try Ann's advise ith my next post.
Stay well and happy stitching. Beth
Cute cute cute!! I can't believe the size of the binding. I usually do 2.5". You're a binding making machine ;)
ReplyDeleteIt can be soooo addicting when you start looking at all the blogs...not to mention time consuming. I'm not going to tell you how much time I've spent looking at all of them. My blog roll is getting a little out of hand but I just can't help myself! :) Christine
Sometimes we need a 'no brainer' just to get our sewing mojo back - I do it a lot!! The table runner is so sweet, I'd never call it cheating!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm posting on my blog I'll upload the photos first, then insert the cursor in between each one and type. If I haven't uploaded them in the order I want then I'll click and drag them to their right spot (when you 'click' leave your finger on the mouse button, you'll start to see a 'shadow' of the image as you drag it). I hope this helps too. :)
I think sometime's that our creative side goes into hibernation during the winter months when we are so busy with the holidays. It's good to see the creativity starting to bloom again;) Don't feel bad about figuring out how to do the pictures and stuff....I am having to learn a whole new skill set with the blog place I picked out.
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting!!!
