I think most of us are finding our way around now. I do wish there were a way to send messages to each other, but I’ve decided I’m just going to reply under your comments as necessary. That may not be proper blogging format, but hey, it’s worked so far! Of course, you know I'll appreciate all your comments even though I don't reply to each one.
I’m so glad that I’ve re-discovered Jennifer, another APQ friend I thought was gone forever; you can find her among the new followers of my blog. She has a really neat site, so be sure to check it out, and lots of her other neat links.
Quilting has been on my mind; can you imagine that? I had considered trying to appliqué little five-pointed stars in the vertical 3” wide sashings of my big patriotic quilts. I laid one out on the bed, and cut a little paper star to check the possibility. I counted and found I would need at least 54 stars for each quilt; that’s 108 stars no wider than 2.5”. Five points on 108 stars means 540 tiny points to appliqué! ---- I don’t think so! ---- The quilter will just have to add them, maybe with red/white/blue variegated thread. I’ve got to start talking to the quilter soon!
Then today after reading some of your blogs about your little quilts, I got to thinking maybe I would start on some Christmas little quilts, so I can stay up with Ann on our private challenge. So far, I’m behind! I haven’t even gotten started, and she has one or two completed! I’ve got to find those leftover red and green geese!
That reminds me --- I never did show my last project of 2009. In 2008 I made my little “Flying Home for Christmas” geese from the APQ cover. My quilting friend loved it so much I decided to make one, with a different border, for her birthday. It certainly is far from perfect, but she loves it. (Next blog I'll try to wrap the words around the picture! *grin*)

I still cannot believe I haven't made anything since last November, except lots of candy! I've got to get busy! It's only 339 days until Christmas again!

Hi Love, I love the flying geese quilt. We see a lot of geese 'flying over' as it were. I decided to delete my blog, and your lovely comments. "To thine own self be true" has been going round and round in my head. I am obviously not ready for any of this -- but know that am reading your posts, and wish you well.

Sandy, only you know what is best for you at this time. I tried this afternoon to go to your blog, and couldn't of course. Maybe you would be happier at BHG; I think there's about five still there, and I'm one of them. Either way, you know how to find us. Maybe someday you will feel better about everything and join us again. I'll miss hearing from you; Best Wishes to you. ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon, a cold can hang on for a long time and just make you feel crummy!
ReplyDeleteI like your flying geese quilt, it looks very Christmasy with the reds and greens.

The flying geese quilt is great - I love that plaid around the outside. But WHAT on earth are you doing counting down to Christmas already? Didn't you have enough in 2009? :)
ReplyDeleteI like your flying greese quilt. I always thought I would do one, maybe sometime. Thanks for your comment, I can send you the chair pattern but the little woodern doll was a gift so I don't have the pattern for that. The little cup is from a quilt shop that I did work at, the lady that own the shop collect antique and I like the cup and she gave it to me. I thinking of doing a picusion for it in a victorian style. The quilt shop is called Quaint Quilts and it is a good little shop. ..... Glad you are doing better and have a very blessful day!
ReplyDeleteI love your flying geese. I hope you feel better soon and can get back to doing what you love.

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the comments- its tough to know how to reply here! But so far I'm liking it even better than APQ- even though it is dangerously addicting. I love your Christmas flying geese!!!! I hope you're feeling better soon. Hang in there :) Christine
ReplyDeleteAw thanks Love!
ReplyDeleteYour idea of having the stars quilted in variegated thread sounds perfect, and I'm sure your quilter will do a great job.
The little flying geese quilt is lovely!
Only how many days till Christmas again????? I think I missed the last one...too busy with the wedding and seeing family;) Love the little quilt. I've heard from alot of quilters that they are going the "small" route this year.
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting!!!
I hope you are feeling better Love. You'll be stitching and quilting in no time. Look out when you do as I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up! I agree with Jen on the stars - quilted-in will be just fine. I really liked your Flying Geese quilt and this little one is a sweetie. What a lovely gift! Happy Stitching, Ann :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Love! Your little flying geese quilt is as cute as your first one was! I was on APQ awhile back, but was more of a lurker, with the ocassional comment, but no blog. Its good to see you, and so many of the others over here now. Many thanks to Ann for pointing me in the right direction! Hope you get over your cold really soon, and get to do some more quilting, always fun to see what you create!
