Going in Circles!

I'm finding myself going in circles!

In times past, I thought I was fairly organized, at least as far as my quilting was involved.  I rarely began another quilt until I finished the last one.  All that has changed!  Now I find myself looking at the patriotic quilts, thinking I need to talk to my quilter and get those going.  (In fact, I did talk to one, and she is no longer quilting for the public because of a family illness, so I'll need to contact the other one.)  Then I look at the Stack and Whack, and wonder, "Could I quilt that one myself, maybe?"  Then I look at that fabric I bought last week for that next Christmas project --- the one with the bells to applique from that slicky gold fabric!  Oh well, this is just February 1; I have 27 more days to finish that project this month!  *wink*

What did I do next?......I started cutting an entirely different quilt, basically from my stash!  A pink and blue Kaleidoscope from the September 2000 Quilt World magazine; that's how long I've wanted to make this quilt!  I've cut triangles from about 20 different fabrics, but ALL pink and blue!  I have a specific reason in mind, which maybe I'll share later.  No, it has nothing to do with a baby at all!  (I just happen to love pink and blue, you should know by now!)   Squint your eyes, and scroll down slowly and look for blue circles.  I think they will appear better when it is actually sewn together.  Looking at them on the bed rather than the design wall also distorts the picture.

I currently have 36 8" blocks not yet trimmed nor sewn together.  I see I've got to do a bit of re-arranging, but I'll wait until all the blocks made.  When I squint my eyes and focus on a small area, I can see several interlocking blue circles; hope you can too!  They are pretty obscure right now.  I think it will be much easier to see them once the re-arranging is done, but I just had to show you what I've been working on since last Friday.

  1. This block is amazing and I always enjoy resolving the circles. Let your hair down and quilt/sew as you please. Life's too short! Happy Stitching, Ann :-)

  3. Sounds like you're really turning into a quilter - starting more projects before the first one is done! Your kaleidoscope blocks are coming along and I can see the big blue circles, though I did have to squint a little.

  4. LOL, Love, join the quiting community! I think those projects are called UFO's. Just be thankful you don't have to hide them in a closet - yet. I like the pink and blue and I can see the blue circles. If you rearranged the blocks you could see pink circles. The quilt is going to be lovely.

  5. I see the blue circles. I love quilts like this, that have a pattern "hidden" in plain sight. Once your eye picks it up, you can't miss it. The next time you come back to it, your eye picks a diffrent pattern and you can't miss it either! The colours are lovely, a nice cozy muted palette.
I too used to work on only one project at a time...but I've fallen off that wagon completely the last year. I've now imposed a moratorium on anything new until I finish up a couple of large WIPs. -Joanne

  6. It is looking lovely, Love! I see the blue circles, and love the softness of the fabrics you've chosen. It will make a very sweet, romantic quilt. My motto is becoming "why finish up something when there is so much more to explore?!" Enjoy the play days!

  10. I don't know if being organised is a trait of a quilter... just when I think I am organised, something happens, and I realize how much I am not!

Your quilt looks great, even at this stage!

  11. It's okay to have a bunch of things going...it keeps the mind awake;) Like what you are doing with the kalidescope. I made one years ago with browns and oranges. Have no idea where it went, or if I even really finished it;)
    Happy Quilting!!

  12. It looks snuggly and comfortable already! Looks like you are buzzing right along if you just started it last Friday. I decided a long time ago that you're not really a quilter until there are several projects going at the same time...if that weren't true, we'd never have a reason to buy all these books and magazines, right? 13. Love, the quilt is looking great. I can see the blue circles. The colors are so nice and soft. Long ago I used to only have one project going but I always have many projects in various stages at any given time. I am trying to get some of them done this year, but I am easily tempted to start something else. Can't wait to see your progress on this quilt.
