As Theri said, the Dallas Show was great! As I observed the beautiful quilts, I was reminded of several friends, perhaps by the subject of the quilt, the fabric, the pattern, or the technique. I think you will understand why these brought some of you to mind. So you see, you were there with me, and we enjoyed the show together. *wink* Maybe in later blogs I'll share a few more.
This one reminded me of Ruth.
This one reminded me of Kathleen.
This one reminded me of Alice. So did the "All Roads Lead to the Sea" in Theri's blog.
This one reminded me of Good Yarn Ann, Connie204, and Christine.
This one made me think of Joanne, and her son's colorful braided quilt.
For some silly reason, this one really fascinated me!
This display for the "mini auction" reminded me of Ann Hermes.
Can you believe I didn't buy any fabric? I did buy a few little gadgets. One is a small Olfa cutting mat so I can test punch a hole for hanging it, so I'll know if I can safely punch a hole in the new big one in order to hang it for storage. I also bought tweezers to use with my Curvemaster, Drunkard's Path templets, some quilt markers, some bobbin/thread spool connectors, some quilt row/block number tags (got talked into these!), and I picked up a Clover 5-N-1 Slide ruler for a friend. Just wondering --- do you have as many tools/gadgets as I do that you don't use very often, if at all????? *wink* I need to fill out one of those Quilter's Last Will and Testament forms so my son will know what to do with all my 'stuff'!
Friday was a beautiful day for going to Dallas, and we had no trouble at all. There were seven women and our male driver in our group; we stopped at Abuelo's in Arlington on the way home and pigged out! It was a wonderful day with my local friends! ---"Love"

Great pictures from the quilt show, so many pretty ones to look at. It is nice you could share the day with your friends. All your new goodies sound like fun, enjoy using them!
ReplyDeleteOh Love, I do like the quilt you chose for me! I also like the others - well chosen. I'm such a big fan of gadgets for sewing and they will be my focus when I go to the big quilt show here in Sydney, in June. Delighted that you have such a nice time at yours! Cheers, Ann :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud at the last will and testament! I have so much quilty stuff too! I don't have too many gadgets, but I do have a few specialty rulers I haven't used much. But I will someday right?! ;) Christine
I can see how these quilts made you think of your quilting friends! I've never seen a black & white bargello, it is stunning. And the other quilts you have posted are just as wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a wonderful time.
I too have bought the odd gadget. I think it is more of "making" the time to learn to use them. "Finding" time, never seems to happen! Hmm... I need to take some photos, I bought a gadget or 2 (which I am using) just the other day, I should share!

How nice to be thought of! The mini in the upper left hand corner looks very similar to one I made.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a good time at the quilt show too. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteI have a few gadgets and I have a lot of specialty rulers that usually never make itout of the drawer. I better do another sweep of that sewing room.
That's you in a nutshell Love, always thinking of your friends!
ReplyDeleteBuying sewing gadgets is like buying stationery - I can't get enough of either!
All your comments are so nice, and I always appreciate them, but Fer, I just have to tell you, your comment here put a smile on my face and tears in my eyes! Thanks! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking of all of us, Love. I bet the show was really exciting. It sure looks like it. I'm hoping that I will be able to get to the big quilt show here in Chicago mid April. Gadgets are soo much fun, my BF just sent me a pressure rotary cutter and it's great. Connie204
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love quilt shows? Theri and I had a wonderful time when we went to Paducah years ago. She keeps trying to convince me to go to Houston...maybe I ought to start saving $$$. Check out my new post--maybe there is something you'd like. Mary
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a quilt show in YEARS!!! They've had a few around here, but I've been disappointed enough not to want to go back and see their stuff.
ReplyDeleteI knew there someone else out there somewhere that used skull fabric too;)
Happy Quilting!!
