What a MONTH last week was!

MONDAY - went with son to his doctor, and then on to the City to JoAnn's.  At the register was the manager I had talked with by phone about the 12" rotating cutting mat I had not been charged for the previous week.  She was so surprised but glad to see me, and said several times I had renewed her faith in humanity.  I showed her the packaging with the price code, and when she rung it up, she said it was on sale for $21 this week, rather than the $27.99 of last week.  I reminded her I had gotten it on the date of the 40% sale, and she said that was okay, but it was on sale this week at 50% off, and that was all she would charge me.  Good deal, I thought, and I paid her before doing my other shopping.  See --- honesty is the best policy, and it does have its rewards!  I think I looked at or handled everything in the store, and came home with a couple of battings, two yards of fabric, and more thread.

TUESDAY - Can you believe it snowed again in Texas --- all day long!  Temp was near freezing here all day, but snow didn't last, thank goodness.  I did a little sewing on my February Christmas project.  Haven't sewed a stitch since then!  More on this one when I get it finished!

WEDNESDAY -  Laundry, groceries, bills paid, all that fun stuff!

THURSDAY - Quilted (and ripped) at church 10 AM to 2 PM; then visited three hours with a dear friend facing serious surgery, and whose husband is also seriously and permanently incapacitated.

FRIDAY -  Fretted most of the day over a stupid major disagreement with a lifelong friend!  Wears me out!

SATURDAY - A gorgeous, sunny, not too cold day!  Worked all morning in sister's yard, with help of my son and his two sons and one of their friends, removing limbs broken by big snow storm earlier, and then in the afternoon, pruned 15 rose bushes in my own yard by myself!  Ouch!  I'm still aching, but it certainly looks better out the sunroom windows!  The roses are already beginning to bring forth new leaves!

SUNDAY - Went to church morning and evening, and visited with that sick friend again.  Then this morning she called me again to spend more time with her because she is so worried about everything.  So I did; and will again when she needs me.

All last week I was wanting to watch the Olympics, but as you would imagine, I missed a lot of that!
Quilting is what I really wanted to do, but there are times when friends are much more important than my quilting time.  I do hope to get to the machine more this week, but so far that hasn't happened!

YOU REALLY NEEDED TO KNOW ALL THAT, DIDN'T YOU???  Yeah, right!

Sunday night I enjoyed so much reading all the blogs that were posted last week; I couldn't believe I was so far behind!  It's good to know several of you had quality quilting time!  Lots of really nice work!   Keep it up!

TEXANS - One more thing:  Tuesday is the day for Primary Elections in Texas.  Please, if you haven't voted early, do go and vote your own conscience on Tuesday!  It is not only a civic responsibility, but a right we want to keep!

  1. Wow, you were a busy bee! It's good you could spend time with your friend, she needs you and it's nice she can count on you being there for her. Hope all works out well for her. We saw snow up in the Sandia mountains today but none in town, at least at my house. Of course it is headed your way! Your Christmas project looks interesting, can't wait to see more.

Take it easy and hope you get to sew more, it is good for the soul!

You have had such a busy week so no surprise you haven't had much time to sew. You are so right about the blogs. There is loads happening out there and it's so much fun catching up with it all. 3. I think I'm worn out just reading what you accomplished! I hope the disagreement with your friend sorts itself out soon - I know how stressful they can be. And I hope the friend facing surgery has a successful surgery with a speedy recovery. You'll be back at quilting in due time and we'll be here to cheer you on when you go into marathon mode!

  5. Friendships are far more important. You are a great friend to spend all that time with your friend facing surgery. I hope the disagreement with the friend has blown over- I know how stressful that can be. I'm sure you'll be back to all your quilting soon. Great table mat! :) Christine

  6. What a week! I hope your friend has an uneventful recovery. I also hope you have a friend like you whenever you need one!
On the bright side, enjoy the leaves on your rosebush. I'm usually thinking of gardens by now, but the snow is just too deep and long-lasting this year. I just can't get in the mood to plan out the flowerbeds yet.
I love your Christmas project. Enjoy a little more "you" time like that :)

  7. DH & I voted early and are hoping for a good outcome. I was shocked when 2 of my friends told me they had never voted in a primary! I hope your friend will be ok and that this week will be better for you (after this nasty, cold day, anyway).

  9. Yes, Love, we really did need to know all that. Missed you last week and worried if you were sick or something--busy is much better. You'll get back to sewing and soon you'll have good weather and things to do in your garden. And all troubles will be resolved with time... Wishing you an easier week and warmer weather! Fifteen rose bushes? Ouch! Mary
