Serious and yet unsolved computer problems have certainly hindered me the last couple of weeks! WHEN, on rare occasion, I can get the thing to work, I have to stay with it for as long as possible, because when I leave it for a few minutes, it dies a natural death, and cannot be brought back to life, even after a re-boot! Next week it's going to the hospital and hopefully a cure will be found! So if you find me among the missing, that's why!
All of you have been posting great blogs, but I've been really late in reading them and commenting. But for this moment, I'm "read" up! I'm sure that change by tomorrow night.
I've not sewed a stitch in so long; I hope that changes some next week! Got to get the borders on my APQ wall hanging!
I've been preparing for my 54th high school reunion this week. Now hush laughing! I can hear you from all around the world! Yes, it's true --- I've been out of high school more years than most of you are old! But I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!
I finally got my picture albums updated from the last reunion two years ago. You know by now that I'm a pack rat. Years ago I dug out all my school pictures and mounted them by grade in a 5" notebook, complete with every scrap of momentos from each of my 12 grades. I copied pages from our school annuals, added photos of friends that I had taken throughout those twelve years --- almost every move any of us made is documented there!
Then I started another notebook at the time of our first reunion and I've kept it current all these 54 years. It has lots of snapshots and momentos, and the formal class picture for every reunion. We don't allow spouses or significant others in that picture --- ever! We are OUR class alone, and those "in-laws" just have to sit back and watch as we have our fun. ( I'll get more hugs tomorrow than I've had in a whole year!) True, we love them (the "in-laws") too, but they all understand they cannot ever come between us classmates! So far, it has worked out well, and at this age, I'm sure it will continue. Our class has always been so very close; we are FAMILY! I have every program, almost every letter I've written to or received from classmates and sponsors, and any other tidbit related to our class in that 5" notebook, and it is brimming full! This past week I dug through all the school newspapers I have and copied everything that mentioned our class, including Senior interviews --- what we thought in 1956 we would be doing with our future. What fun it was to read those again! Some worked their plan; some didn't! Today during the decorating/set-up time, some of the gang were looking through those, and we all had a big laugh. My best friend has prepared a new beautiful Memorial Scrapbook, complete with those interviews, obits, pictures, etc. of those we've lost along the way. That list has almost doubled in the past two years! I'll be presenting the Memorial time --- with TEN names on the list, including our last Sponsor! This will be our first reunion without her; she will be sorely missed.
We will have barbeque catered, and hopefully will be able to eat outdoors, if the rain will just go east of us!
The host and hostess have a big barn full of Classic Chevys they show all over the U S, and we could eat off the floor if need be; it is so clean! The wild flowers in the pasture around the building are just beautiful.
I'm really excited about seeing everyone, and I'm sure you're tired of reading all this blah-blah-blah! So I think I'll hit the sack and get my beauty sleep. I certainly want to look my best for all those old boyfriends, married or not! *giggle*

Yep, we have missed you! Sorry to read about your pc problems and hoping that things are resolved satisfactorily. I think it's wonderful that you have reunions. For many, schools days were happy ones and the friendships so special. Have a marvellous time! Ann :-)
ReplyDeleteLove enjoy the reunion. What fun it will be. No laughing on my end -I am past my 30th so hey what is a couple more years right? I wish you all the fun to come your way.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your family memeber joined the cancer support group. I have too. I have learned a great deal and hope to pass on any info I can to help others.
Have a great time. Can't wait to hear the stories.Debra
I've always loved the way you and your school mates have kept in touch. There wouldn't be many ex-students in my neck of the woods that would be so dedicated!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, sounds like a hoot!
I know you'll have a wonderful time at your reunion!! We are going to DH's 50 year reunion in September. It's in Villa Park, IL (near Chicago). It's the first reunion he's gone to, so should be interesting. One person we know will be there is the best man from our wedding. I hadn't seen any of your comments for a while and wondered what was up. Hope your computer gets fixed soon. It's such a pain when they don't work well.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at your class reunion! Old friends are the best. You have really saved a lot of good memories from the past 54 years. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGeez, Love, I would have trouble keeping up with you! Have fun at your reunion!

Wow! 54 years is quite a stretch, but it's fantastic that you still get together and keep in touch. (I haven't been out of high school nearly as long as you, but I couldn't tell you where more than a couple of my classmates are now, though for the most part, that is by my own choice.) You'll have to show us pictures from the event. And I love hearing your stories, no matter how silly you think you are.
ReplyDeleteLove, you are amazing. I enjoyed your post and hearng how you have kept an ongong history of your class. That is so wonderful. I went to a small school , class of about 63 girls think. I wish I had kept up better with more of my high school friends.
ReplyDeleteI hope the reunion is just wonderful. I hope you will let us know all the details.
Good luck with the computer.
I'm so glad your absence has been due to your computer's poor health, noy yours! I hope you enjoyed your reunion. It sounds like all the ingredients were there. How wonderful that you are all still in touch. A little over twenty years after my high school graduation, I have no idea where anyone is anymore...-Joanne
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that after all these years you and your old classmates are still in touch. My graduating class of 3,600 couldn't manage to pull off even a ten year reunion. I don't think it has anything to do with location as I too graduated from high school in the great state of Texas.
ReplyDeleteHope you have time to get some stitching in soon, but if nothing else enjoy your time. If it is almost a hundred degrees already and only May, you are in for a long hot summer!
54 years, how wonderful. I'm looking forward to my 50th, which is not that far away. Aren't reunions fun! I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. It's great that you have kept in touch. I certainly hope that everything gets resolved for the better. Connie204
