Look at My Pretty Feathers!

On July 1, I was lucky enough to catch this nice picture, from the sunroom window, of one of the big white-winged doves that enjoys my feeders.  She sat perfectly still for quite a while as she was sunbathing on the rose trellis.  I had never seen feathers in that position.  (Aren't zoom-in cameras wonderful?)  Isn't she pretty?  ---"Love"

  1. What a lovely bird. We don't have anything like her in my neck of the woods. We are set to enjoy a few nice summery days -- finally!

  7. Beautiful bird, but yes, that does seem a strange pose...whatever is comfortable, though, right?

  8. What a beauty! Our doves aren't nearly as pretty and we always chuckle because they are a clumsy group! What a great shot you managed...maybe she was cooling off by spreading her feathers?

Sssh! We are being very quiet here because another pair of bluebirds have come to check another of our birdhouses. They have returned 3 days in a row, so we are VERY hopeful. I feel mean because I have not filled the bird feeders in hopes that a "crowd" will not come in and scare them away. As usual, he has been sitting on top of the house (guarding?) while she flies around and gathers twigs! Mary

  9. Beautiful shot! I have a pair that come to the feeder here, as well as a pair of ring-neck doves. Then there are a whole passel of mourning doves. Right now the boys are chasing the girls around again- must be time for the next clutch! I'm sure there will be more baby birds splatting into the windows soon! :) Theri
