Finally!! I got the two little quilts finished today for my pastor and his wife. Well, I still need to do a little thread clean-up on the back of hers, the one with the birds. His went together easily because I've made that pattern so many times. However, there was no pattern with the verse on hers, and besides dealing with the big rectangle, I had bought the bird fabric and thought I would fussy-cut the center of stars with a bird in the middle. Then you remember I couldn't find more of some of the fabrics, then I couldn't match fabrics for his to what I had bought for hers! A big mess! So thoughtless, totally! Lesson learned --- I hope! Both were made with quilt as you go, every piece of fabric. I did do a little more top stitching on hers. I'm just glad to call them "done"!!!
I actually finished his January 30, but finished hers today. I won't be gifting them until probably February 23, when they return from a trip. (These were supposed to be my Christmas presents to them, but all those other little quilts caused a delay!)
Here they are. I hope they like them.
Tonight he will finish a series of sermons from Psalms, and she quotes the verse on hers to their little grandson everytime she picks him up, hoping some of his first words will be that verse. So I thought those scriptures would be perfect for them.
Now maybe I can get back to Civil War blocks, and some practice on free motion, both of which I've neglected lately! Also the church quilters have started a new quilt --- more about that next time.
Just for my record, today I look like I lost a fight! I spent three hours in the dentist's chair on Wednesday, and my face is still quite swollen and after being black, blue, and purple, it is beginning to turn green and yellow! Lovely to look at, right?!! When one has to have dental surgery while on Plavix, it creates lots of bleeding problems, in case you aren't aware! But I'm going to live in spite of myself!

I'm sure they will love the quilts! They are lovely! I hope your swelling will go down soon. Did people wonder if you were in a fight? Just asking.
ReplyDeleteThe quilts will be much loved and appreciated I'm sure. You always do such lovely work. Hope you feel better soon. That trip to the dentist was quite an ordeal. Have fun with your CW blocks and FMQ. ann :-)
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are lovely! I hope your face is back to normal soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love both! They're so different - I had somehow expected they would be similar in pattern to each other, but boy was I wrong! I was just thinking yesterday that we hadn't heard from you blog-wise in a while and now I see why. I hope your face feels better soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilts turned out beautifully and I am sure the couple will love them. You could always tell people you went a couple rounds with Mr. Bushytail, LOL!

The quilts are lovely andI am sure they will be loved.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. I know all that swelling and bruising is uncomfortable (even downright painful). Doesn't sound like it is slowing you down.
I take that medication too and I usually have several bruises in various shades.
