"The Big IF", donated to the youth fund raiser, sold for $125 in the live auction, which put it out of my financial reach; I was very pleased (but sad too)! At least I know the couple who bought it, (not the one I really expected would buy it), and they will make it a good home.
In the silent auction, my other little patriotic wall hanging sold for $30, and the blue/yellow doll quilt sold for $10. Also in the live auction, the larger "Give Thanks" quilt, hand quilted by the group, brought in $175, I think; not sure about that one; I was talking as you might know!
I don't know where all the usual big spenders were tonight, but it just wasn't happening like usual! Relatively speaking, I thought my items did very well, compared to other items. Some of the smaller items in the silent auction didn't even get a bid! I couldn't figure that one out! Maybe the economic situation is worse in our area than I had realized? I doubt the $4,000 goal was reached, and usually they far exceed the goal.
I bought a couple of things I'll share next post, but I want to take pictures tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a productive week ahead!

I would say that $125 is pretty good for your Big IF quilt. But the people really got a deal if they got the large one for $175. That is too bad - that had lots of work in it - especially the hand quilting! But, it does sound like people were not bidding very much. You take your chances with auctions, I guess.
ReplyDelete$125 is definitely a respectable amount! But I'm sad to hear the auction didn't go as well as hoped. I look forward to seeing what you bought, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure folks always understand the work that goes into handmade items and these days folks are after a bargain. ann :-)
ReplyDeleteI am glad "IF" went to a good home. Hope that makes you feel better about giving it up.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that bidding wasn't very good this year. Auctions are sometimes hard to figure out. Hope the youth group came close to the goal.
