More Midlothian Quilt Show Pictures

Where have the past 2-3 weeks gone?  Seems like I've been busy everyday, but don't see much I've accomplished.  I've done a bit of fabric shopping, (failed to take pictures), lots of wishing, visiting with friends, and I almost have another quilt top together; hope to finish it tomorrow when a local quilting buddy comes over for a sew-in.  Maybe I'll have more to report on that by the week-end.

Also a friend and I went to the Midlothian, Texas, Quilt show, where both Ruth and I had quilts entered.  I knew going in my quilts were not going to be ribbon winners, but still I was happy to get to show them.  I didn't even get a decent picture of them hanging together! *frown* But you can see and read all about them in my blog dated July 8, 2010.  http://ijustlovequilts.blogspot.com/2010/07/patriotic-quotations-quilts.html  I still feel as strongly today (and maybe more so!) about the quotations as I did the day I completed the quilts.   That pillow lap will always present problems for exhibiting them.  If I could re-do them, I'd not put that extra space in them for a quilt I might want to show.  Still they fit my beds perfectly, and I love them!

Ruth's quilts were even more beautiful up close and personal than they are in her pictures.  Her handquilting is incredible on the Tumbler, and her machine quilting makes me green with envy!  She is really doing great with it!  It was so much fun to get to visit with her a little while at the show on Saturday.

There were so many beautiful quilts with lots of  complicated piecing and elaborate quilting.  I did take lots of pictures, but failed to get information to give credit where due.  If someone recognizes a quilt, just know I thought it was beautiful!  So here are a few I thought were special:

Rhapsody in Blue!

Check out the lizards!
Also the orange centers were quilted like we used to draw with Spirographs!  Gorgeous!

I also like the ones Ruth posted, and especially hers.  At the time we were talking to Don Locke about his "Jane" quilt, I didn't realize he is the one who made the huge quilt of "The Supper Quilt" that has been touring around the country.  If you've not seen that one, do a Google search for it; it is truly incredible!

'Twas a good show!  I had fun!  Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

  3. Thanks for posting more pictures! I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, so I'm grabbing the eagle picture. That is one that I need to think about. I am very happy you entered your 2 patriotic quilts in the show. I saw numerous people reading the quotes. Hopefully, someone learned something from them. I have embroidered one of those quotes (from the Bible) to go around a Liberty Bell that I did in red a few years ago. I hope I can get that finished some day. Hee Hee! It was fun to see you at the show and meet your friend
