It's been a week Thursday night since I finished packing Christmas away, and I don't have anything worthwhile to report! I've had the lazies I guess, with several not serious aches and pains; maybe I just like to complain,or maybe beg for sympathy! *wink*
I do have some good weather news for my area! My back yard received 3.25" of rain the past 36 hours, more than we've had in several months! And it's still wet out there tonight, and will be a bit tomorrow, but at least it's not freezing! The weatherman just said that may happen next week-end, after hitting almost 70 degrees Friday maybe. Texas weather! If you don't like what you've got, just wait a day or two!
I have tested a quilt block re-sizing project this week for our next church quilt. I haven't gotten the pictures loaded to the computer, and may not. For the test, I used ugley fabrics I knew I'd never want in a quilt, but I proved that the size increase will match the size of the beautiful hand cross-stitched blocks one of our members donated for for our next quilt.
I've also been thinking about the big tie quilt I guess I'll be making for my former Sunday School teacher from her deceased husband's ties. I'm really not looking forward to that, but can't think of a graceful way out of it. She told me Sunday she would get the ties to me this week; I'm guessing the weather has delayed her, which is fine with me.
Last Saturday after my classmate' funeral, I went to Hobby Lobby and fell off the fabric wagon! Remember I had said I wasn't going to buy fabric this year? Well, that pretty deer/church/snow Christmas panel they had at Christmas was on sale for $2.99, and I bought two of them! Don't ask why; I can't tell you! I also bought a yard of another Christmas fabric that was on sale, and like what I had bought before Christmas but didn't use. Then they had a little pink/white stripe with a tiny pink rose like I've used for bias bindings before, and there was about 3/4 yard, so I emptied that bolt for them. I have lots of pinks, and no doubt there will be another baby shower someday!
While digging in the closet today for inspiration, I came across that second "My Favorite Things" panel of hand tools like I had given a couple of years ago to my friend who made my sewing machine cabinet extension. I had ordered it to make for a retired fireman, but didn't get it done before Christmas. I needed more matching fabric, so today I got that ordered, and received confirmation that it has been shipped already! I'd really like to get that one done before I get too far into the tie quilt!
What I need to be doing is cleaning this computer room and rounding up tax info! Sure don't want to do that either! *frown*
Some of you must be quilting 8-10 hours a day; you've been turning out lots of pretty things! I just haven't gotten into the groove yet; my tail is still draggin'! (But I really am okay; just still trying to get over the snotty nose and cough, and old age aches and pains! I'll get over it all someday!) A good sew-in day would probably be the best medicine!
Hope all of you are staying well, and warm (or cool on the other side of the world!). Fer, I do hope you and your family are safe! Those pictures from Tasmania show so much devastation! I hope you are no where near the fires! Ann, I was glad to hear earlier that you were not near the fires; hope that is still true! Do keep us posted!
Happy quilting! Maybe I'll have something worthwhile on my next post.

Fer should be well out of harm's way. It's odd to see Tasmania having so much heat as it's usually pretty cool down there. Enjoy you time off - I think you've earned a break after hosting all those parties over Christmas. It's not easy to hang to that fabric wagon - I'm staying away from the shops for good reason.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we do things that do not result in a finished quilt, like the block resizing. Takes time and energy and needs to be done. So you did get something 'done'.
ReplyDeleteWhen you see really good prices, you just have to grab that fabric. ;)
I am having a bit of trouble getting myself going so far this year. Maybe tomorrow.
Be well.Happy stitching
Rest and relax, Love, you earned it! Don't worry about the mojo coming back. It will. For the tie quilt - use light-weight iron-on interfacing on the ties. Makes them much easier to handle!
