Gaining Courage and Making Slow Progress

Sittin' and rockin' while looking out the sunroom windows has helped me gain courage I guess.  Last night I got to mulling over all the unfinished projects (not just quilting either) around my place.  I decided it was time to take a little action.  You may remember that when I closed up the sewing machine last November, I still had one more block to make for my Civil War Quilt project by Barbara Brackman  --- Week Three - Seven Sisters block.  I made the decision last night to use iron-on interfacing for all those little stars; 35 points in all!  I got them all onto the interfacing and cut out, and this morning I arranged them and stitched them down with invisible thread, even before I had coffee.  That's got to be some kind of record for me!
Here's the result:  (Don't look too closely.  I think I may have to re-stitch the stars.  My zig didn't zag enough!)

Then when I came in to the computer to post this, I ran in to the problem of uploading my picture, exactly the same as Quilt Lab Ann was having.  Did I ever tell you that sometimes I HATE computers???!  Thank you, Liri, for solving the problem for me too.  My question now is: Why would the normal procedure be changed, let alone be improved by this procedure???!  I don't get it!

Anyway, back to what I was thinking before this interruption came along.  I've been thinking about trying to do some quilting, on either my pink/white string quilt, or my pink/green stack-n-whack, which has been basted together for a lo-o-o-o-ng time!  Well, I don't have the right color thread for the latter one, and I haven't even thought about a backing for the string quilt!  So I guess I'll go see what I can find under the bed that will work for that one.  Who knows?  I just may have to go to the quilt store, you think?  *giggle*  (I think the fabric wagon is slowing down so I can fall off again without getting hurt too badly!)

Of course, it's supposed to be cold here tomorrow.  They say it is almost 70 degrees here today, but I don't believe it; I've been cold all day.  It may be too cold for me to want to get out tomorrow.

I may just sit and rock again...........

  1. Aahh Love...there may be an advantage (if only small) to not actually starting projects - they aren't sitting around as UFOs. *chuckle*

Blogger misbehaving is a nuisance and apparently they are trying yo rectify the issue. Let's hope that happens sooner rather than later. Big thanks to Liri!

Any chance you can send some of that cold our way? It's **hot**hot**hot** here.

  2. The block looks great to me! Go find that quilt back before your courage runs out again (though I'm sure your quilting will be beautiful). I'm hoping this isn't a permanent change for Blogger, but it sounds like maybe it is?

  3. Your block came out well - first thing in the morning before coffee too! I think your quilting muse is waking up :-) Good luck with the machine quilting. I'm sure it will look lovely, and you'll have one more thing to mark as "done".

  4. Oh, I just love that block! Glad you were able to follow my instructions and that they helped, but part of the credit belongs to Katie. Something she wrote set a light bulb off in my head!

  5. If you need fabric to finish a project that has already been started, it is not falling off the wagon. That is my story and I am sticking to it! LOL.
    Your stars look good.
I might just rock a bit today. ;)

  6. Your block looks great! I want to get my CW quilt finished and have about 5 blocks that I need to fix as they didn't come out right. Hopefully, I don't have to start from scratch on them. Stay warm!
