After months away from any quilt store, I finally got to go to one yesterday. What a treat! Before taking me to the doctor (--- again!---), my son took me to my favorite quilt store where I purchased only one piece of fabric, but a lot of it! I wanted something I could use as background for all my Civil War leftover fabrics, actually three tubs full!
Day before yesterday I had cut a few 2.5" strips from mostly red and blue fabrics, and I'll be cutting other colors soon also.
Now, just what can I do with all the strips and this background fabric?

I do have a plan in mind. (Notice I didn't say "pattern"; here I go again, flying by the seat of my pants!) It will be rather involved, and will require lots of concentration and determination from me, both of which are very difficult for me right now. I just hope I will live long enough to get at least the top together so someday someone can quilt it in case I can't. I plan to take it easy along the way, with other smaller projects mixed in, so I don't get bored or worn out from it all.
For now, I'll keep my plan a secret, but I'll be showing pictures of my progress from time to time. Maybe it will be as much fun as I'm hoping for. I just hope I don't have to give up!
Today is another gloomy rainy day, so maybe I can get started a bit. (Think positive, Love!)

I love all of your fabrics and the background is so pretty! I am anxious to see what you are up to. I hope it all comes together like you want. Maybe if you work at it a little at a time, it will remain fun and interesting and not tax you too much. Go for it Love, it will be good for you!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! That looks like a lovely mix of fabrics to play with, and while you say you don't have a pattern, your plans usually work out pretty well. I'll be watching for updates!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! I only see a few fabrics in your selection that I have ever had, which is amazing considering that I have lots (tons?) of CW fabrics. The background fabric is great and is something that is so necessary. Did you see the article recently about how quilting is so good for the brain? The fact that you continue planning quilts is sure a good sign that you are making progress - or are totally addicted! Can't wait to see snippets here and there with what you do with the fabrics!
