While reviewing my last few posts, I realized I had reversed the Week numbers and pictures for Weeks 8 and 9; I have now corrected that May 12 post.
Since that post, and the May 5 post when I said I was going to start saying NO, life has been like a whirlwind. Somehow my brain and mouth just do not cooperate with my plans, but my body keeps telling me to slow down. In fact, Sunday two weeks ago I awoke with a severely upset tummy. No way would they have wanted me at church for anything! I was down (and up!) two days.
Then I got to feeling pretty good, and worked a lot in the yard in fresh air, probably a bit too much because I was just worn out, too tired to even want to cook. I would just fall in bed after a quick shower and never turn over all night!
Last weekend began on Friday with attending the funeral of the lady whose back yard shared the fence line of my back yard. She was one of the first people I met when I bought my house in this town 39 years ago, and we spent a lot of time visiting over the fence, talking about our flowers and watching the birds. As soon as that funeral was over, I met up with my best quilting buddy whose sister had passed away, and made plans for a memorial service on Saturday for their families. I came home, baked 15 dozen cookies, rounded up my red tablecloths (yes, red!) she wanted to use under her picture displays, and then on Saturday helped her with serving and washing dishes, etc. I was so sorry about her loss, but no way would I have said No to helping her! She truly is one of my dearest friends ever. We both were worn out when we were finished cleaning the building, but both of us recovered in a day or two. Oh I almost forgot; before we got set up for the memorial service, I had to also bake a cake for a different funeral dinner at church that same day. Last Saturday was really a busy day!
For weeks, every day I would say to myself, "Today I'm going to sew!" Over and over, it didn't happen! I finally got my Moda Block Heads Week 10 block made May 26, but never took time to write a post. I'm not thrilled with it, but it's done! Wish I had put my flower stem in front of the handle.

Then I went through another spell of not accomplishing anything --- house, yard, sewing---! Was having a variety of pains, particularly my legs, and just was not in the mood. (That's really not like me!)
This past Monday I made myself a promise that I would try to catch up on the blocks. Well, I haven't made it yet, but I did finish Week 11 on June 6, and Week 12 on June 7. I'm fairly pleased with both of them. Seems like I have a difficult time making good fabric selections to show the blocks at their best.

Our area has been blessed the past couple of weeks with refreshing rains. My back yard received a full 5" over a four day period. It was much needed, and much appreciated!
Some day soon I'm going to have to clean house! But I'm going to keep saying, "Tomorrow I sew! Tomorrow I sew! Tomorrow I sew!" Do you think that will help?
Though I've not been sewing much, I have kept up with reading a lot of wonderful blogs; at least, that helps keep my sanity!

You have been kept very busy, between helping with funerals, yard work, illness, and doctor visits (hope it is nothing serious). You deserve a rest!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should feel good about having these three blocks to share. I love the idea of doing this quilt in r/w/b!
A little sewing is better than none! And you're keeping busy with other stuff, though I don't like hearing it's funerals. The blocks look good to me, but we're always our worst critics.
ReplyDeleteThe blue fabric you used for the basket blocks works very well.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can spend so much time in your garden as I can only take about 1 hour at the most and then I can't do any more. The cooler weather here helps somewhat. Your blocks are looking good. I have 2 to make and I'll be caught up again.
