Between helping with funeral dinners (two this week), and a doctor's visit this morning, and the usual daily stuff, I can't believe I'm going to actually be quilting this afternoon. I quilted a bit yesterday, and just to prove it, I thought I'd post a picture. I still have a way to go, but I hope to finish by July 4 for sure if I can.
Blue Stars, quilting in progress
Last Friday two of my quilting buddies took me with them to the Bosque Arts Center in Clifton, Tx., for the quilt show there. We saw lots of pretty quilts, and the people were so friendly. On the way home, we stopped at an estate sale and picked up a few things, no embroidered doilies. The whole day (about 10 hours) was a blast! Here are a few of my favorite quilts from the show.
A close-up of center of a large Tumbler quilt; each tumbler full of tiny pieces and quilted separately!
Beautifully pieced in beautiful and colorful fabrics!
Close-up of Texas Star quilt, with two rounds of fussy-cut hummingbirds! Enlarge to see them! I can't even imagine!
A gorgeous Log Cabin with more tiny pieces than I can even imagine! Enlarge to see them (in this not so great picture).
"Crossing the Brazos"; Not a panel! Quilter used over 25 fabrics to cut and applique the horses cows, rocks, mountains, and even the clouds! Incredible! Truly Texas, too!
This was intended to be a short post to let you know I am still quilting, but I got carried away thinking about that little town with so much to see. (I didn't even mention their museum or shops in the old part of town.)
Now---I'm going to go quilt!

Yay for quilting! What you've done looks fantastic. I know you'll meet your deadline, but hope you're enjoying yourself along the way. The quilts from the show are amazing - who would think to piece something for a tumbler piece?! Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is looking great! How inspiring to see those gorgeous quilts from the show, pieced tumbler blocks-how unique and fun.
ReplyDeleteYour blue stars quilt is looking great, and I love that tumbler quilt too. So kind of you to help with funeral dinners. You are the kind of friend everyone wishes they had.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your quilting today! I'm sure the quilt show helped put you in the right mood for it. Your quilt is going to be beautiful. The red and blue musical notes are perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that you are quilting again! It looks lovely! Looks like a wonderful quilt show! I didn't know about the town, but it's not too far from you, which makes it nice. I don't usually go too far to go to quilt shows - maybe 50 miles max. I hope there is one around here soon as it's been a while since I've been to one.
