Rain, Rain, Go Away; Come Again ---- in July!

It seems it has rained here almost every day for at least two weeks!  I'm ready for some sunshine!

I've still been busy.  I did finally get the four large notebooks of school memories finished, and I do mean totally, up to date!  Just so you know, my classmate from Mississippi still has not been able to drive to Texas because he won't drive in the rain, thank goodness!  So I've just continued to slowly clean my place a little each day.  I've actually cleaned the kitchen drawers!  I still need to do a lot more, and will gradually, but I'm not knocking myself out since I don't know when the guy will get here.  It may be two more weeks!

Last Friday I had a semi-serious vertigo event while my son was here.  He got my pill for me and got me on the bed, where I promised to stay.  He had to leave to go to work, but I made it just fine, and have not had anymore trouble with that.  However, my knee keeps giving me fits, so my friend took me to the doctor yesterday.  I was told to increase my pain medicine for a couple of weeks, and maybe it would get better.  It has done a little better today, but still hurts.  I can deal with it because I'm one tough old lady!  But I don't like it!

I cleaned out another drawer in the sunroom today, and deided I had done enough!  I wanted to sew, but first I had to do some cutting.  I got two more blocks put together this afternoon.  Here they are.

Block 24
Block 25
You'll notice I did a couple of dumb things on Block 25.  That pink center really screams, doesn't it?  But the embroidery is so beautiful that I just couldn't resist using it.  From time to time now, I guess I'll need to use some other colored backgrounds from time to time to mix in the scheme of things.

Then as I was doing the final press, I realized that I had used two identical baskets from the same piece in this block.  I just didn't want to rip it out and start again.  If I get more than enough blocks made someday, I may replace this one.  If not, it's going in the quilt!  I still think it is pretty anyway.

Maybe tomorrow I'll make a couple more.  It wouldn't surprise me if I were to have company;  haven't had any this week, and that's unusual at my house, to go through Thursday with no company! Oh well, I love my friends, no matter when they come.  I just wish I knew when the Mississippi guy is coming; the rest I can deal with easily.

I've been seeing lots of pretty quilts on line lately.  So I hope all of you keep posting more pictures.

  1. Thank goodness your son was on hand when the vertigo hit. They don't make them as tough as your generation any more Love. I like your blocks and you needn't be so critical of your work. They look so sweet and it's going to be a beautiful quilt.

  2. Your two new blocks are perfectly lovely! It's always good to have a bit of the unexpected show up in a quilt, I think. It gives the eye a new place to rest for a moment and see what's going on around it. You're way ahead of me with spring cleaning, as I haven't even begun.

  3. Yay for sewing! And I like both blocks just fine. That pop of pink is just right and centered the way it is, it definitely looks like you wanted to highlight that piece. We have had rain here almost every day for a few weeks also and I, too, am tired of gloomy days. I am very ready for the sunshine of summer, just not the high temps and humidity...I've always said if I could find a place that had spring/fall temps year round, I'd be happy there! But I don't think that place exists. I do hope your friend gets to visit soon!

  4. Both blocks are beautiful and who cares if the one has two parts of the same embroidery, it is so pretty! My DH youngest daughter and her two boys were here for a visit a couple weeks ago. I did a lot of spring cleaning before they arrived and did a lot of cleaning up after they left. Seems cleaning is always needing done! Sorry you were not feeling well again, hope the vertigo goes away and stays away. Other than that, sounds like you are busy and having fun, too!
