Finally, Some Quilty News!

I did it yesterday!  I actually began a new printed panel wall hanging;  I got the borders on it and the batting unrolled!  Then I realized I had failed to purchase a backing and binding for it!  But I did that today!  Hopefully tomorrow, I'll get it sandwiched and try a little machine quilting.  It will be a surprise gift for someone who just may be watching my blog, so I can't show pictures yet, but it's going to be so cute, and very appropriate for the giftee!  You'll understand when you see it!  Maybe next week!

I did my shopping after a trip to my podiatrist, who said my foot is much better, but still needs to be wrapped to continue to compress the swelling.  He said the peeling of the outer skin is a good sign that the fever is leaving and that it is healing, even though I may still have a few problems for another month!  At least I was able to get a shoe on this morning for being out in this freezing weather!

I bought several other fabrics also (about 6 yards total) for my stash, like I needed it.......it was on sale!

Quite unexpected, my son today brought me the "Quilts" calendar; lots of pretties there!  I'm going to try to briefly note my quilting activity each day/week on it.

The best quilty news is that I took my pink/blue kaleidoscope quilt to a new quilter today for an edge-to-edge quilting, which I think will be just fine for that quilt, and it certainly will not be as expensive as for the custom quilting I've had done in the past.  I was impressed by her set-up and how she explained everything to me.  She showed me several quilts she had finished ready for pick-up, and they were all quilted very pretty.  She said it may be March 1 before I see my quilt again.  She has probably 30-35 quilts ahead of mine, but she quilts all day everyday, and had already quilted one this morning when I got there about mid-afternoon, and had the next one pinned and ready to quilt when I left.  She came highly recommended, and I think I saw why!  Also she's only a few miles from me.  I'm so excited!

I'm going to get back into quilting, one way or another, and soon!

  1. Good for you, "Love", getting right back in the swing of things. How exciting to have lots of new fabric to play with, and to have the kaleidoscope quilt off to the quilter.

Best news of all is that your foot is getting better! Life is good.

  4. I'm glad to hear the news about your foot was good news. Before you know it, the whole thing will be a faint memory. And I'm also glad to hear you've finally gotten back into your quilting stuff. I look forward to seeing your project (when it's safe to show, of course) and am wondering what else you bought but I suppose we'll see it in good time (as it becomes part of new projects, of course).

  6. It is wonderful news that your foot is healing! Keep resting it as much as you can to encourage it to heal fast. I'm glad you are in a quilting mood again. New fabric and a cute pattern will keep you busy, can't wait to see what you are up to! What a good son to bring you the calendar and a great idea to use it to note your quilting progress!
