HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

I was slow getting Christmas started, and it seems I'm slower getting it closed down!

Had a wonderful Christmas time with family and friends, and just haven't wanted to put all my "Christmas toys" away. I've been working on it all week-end and still have a long way to go!

My two grandsons who live the closest came Friday and got all the outside lights off the tree and porch and packed them away very nicely for next year; couldn't do it without those boys!  (I climb only two-step ladders, not trees!)  We wanted to get that done before the cold weather blew in!  Then Friday night they took all the batteries out of all the inside toys, but put the toys back in place in each room; I just wasn't ready to pack them away!

This morning we got the big sunroom tree undone and all packed away, but all the decorations are still in their boxes on the sunroom table, waiting to be packed in the storage tubs; I hate that job!  It's not nearly as much fun taking down the tree as putting it up!   They also handed all the water globes to me so I could put them on the shelves in the utility room; that's a big job to do by myself, but when they hand them to me, I have to climb the ladder only once.  They fit in only one way, so I always put them up myself.  Glad we got that done before they left!

My son picked the boys up just after noon, and I decided I just as well start packing up all those Santas and Snowmen, etc. from all over the house.  I think I'm about half finished, maybe, but I'm totally tired, so I think I'll stop until tomorrow after church!  I'll get it all done eventually!

I wonder if all of you have been watching football all day, like I have. If so, you know that TCU won the Rose Bowl game, after being undefeated all year; isn't that wonderful? TCU is not my favorite Texas team, but I was really glad they won such an honor. Looks like Oklahoma may win the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl game too; might be too soon to tell, actually.

I really hope 2011 will be a good year for all of us, and I'm going to think positively!  Some of you are already well on the way to meeting your quilting goals, and I haven't done a thing!  Maybe soon I can begin!  As of tonight, the sewing machine cabinet is still covered with Santa and carolers, and a forest of trees!

From all your blogs, I'd say most of you have all your ducks in a row for the New Year, so just keep up the good work, and keep blogging about your accomplishments.  It gives the rest of encouragement!

  1. The undoing of Christmas is not really much fun. Oh well, soon things will be back to normal and you can start thinking of quilting again.

  3. Oh, please do continue to enjoy the last of the holiday. The quilting will still be there. How is your foot? Has the swelling gone down and bruising gone away?

  4. We'll have some Christmas decorations to put away when we get home around Jan 13, but not nearly as much as you have! Even if I had put up all my decorations, it wouldn't come close. It is fun to have them up, but not fun to put them away. Hee Hee! Have a great year! Is your foot all better?

  5. I know how hard it is to put away Christmas. I decorate little and still some of it makes it well past the holiday. But tell yourself the sooner it's put away, the sooner you can quilt! (How's that for motivation?)

I watched one bowl game in particular yesterday...watched my team get STOMPED. It was made even worse by the coach of the winning team being a man I detest because he quit his job coaching at my school mid-season a few years back. I really, really, really wanted to beat HIM. But I also saw bits of the bowl game you mentioned...watched another team from my state get stomped, though the rivalry that school has with mine makes that loss a lot less painful!

  6. Keep enjoying your Christmas things, you can put them away slowly and not wear yourself out. Expecially the snowmen, they can be out for a while longer. I'm thinking of taking my Christmas stuff down today. The house always looks so bare once it is put away. There is no rush with the quilting, it should be fun so go at your own pace. Enjoy!

  8. Love, I am such a football fan. My DH and I most of the bowl games yesterday. I know that the SuperBowl will be in Dallas this year. I am a diehard Bears fan, of course, I have lived most of my life in the Chicago area. Hope you are feeling better and will get back sewing soon. Happy New Year, Connie204

  9. It's OK to let the Christmas season linger, you know. Take your time, keep stuff out until you feel like putting it away. It doesn't need to be done all at once! Nice that your grandsons were able to come help out a bit.

  10. Hi Love, I couldn't find your email. I don't put any of my cross stitch in the craft shows.
I have always done them as a stress reliever. I haven't done much lately, except the ornaments. Connie204
