Got My RR Sashing and Border!

I made the trek to the quilt store today, but not where I had bought the first fabrics for my Underground Railroad.  They had lots of Jo Morton fabrics, but not like I first got.  The clerk was so helpful, and allowed me to spread all 15 blocks out on a table, and we laid lots of different bolts all around and over all the blocks.  We decided the browns would calm the reds and greens that trouble me so, and also will bring out the blues more. Here's what I chose:

I hope I can get started soon to put it all together.  Life may get in the way for a few days.

In the meantime, I'm also working on my own Pledge of Allegiance wall hanging, using a couple of different fabrics.  Oh, and I need to tell you that I removed the yellow/gold stars from The Wave Salute, and I like it much better!  It is hanging in the sunroom now, until after July 4.

One more thing:  my car did not act up today, in spite of the miles driven and the extreme heat here today!  It didn't steam or spew a single time!

Have lots of fun quilting this week-end.

  1. That fabric is perfect, "Love". (I am trying to imagine you with your blocks spread out on a table at the quilt store.) You are one busy lady. I hope life allows you some sewing time.

  3. Your fabrics are so pretty, can't wait to see them with the blocks, all put together! I'm glad you are making your own Pledge wall hanging, it will be more beautiful than the one you made for the auction. I liked the wave quilt without the stars, it is so striking! Take it easy in the heat, too.

  7. Very good choices! BTW, today my GD & I went to a quilt store (no pictures) and picked out some fabric from their scrap chest. I also got a couple FQs of reproductions. Then we went to lunch together, just the 2 of us. It's good to have one on one time with her. We also found some buttons for 10 cents each - she has a collection like I do. I guess we're 2 peas on a pod! Hope the car keeps on behaving for you!
