First New Project for 2015

Again this morning, I was undecided what I wanted to start on for this new year.  I dug through my Civil War fabrics and scraps again and really thought that's what I'd start on, but I wasn't that excited about it at all.

Then I received an e-mail with the link below, and that settled it!  I was reminded of some fabrics I had bought and stored away last year.  I think you'll know where I headed when you watch this link:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OQjsUvy3sXU&feature=youtu.be  .  It runs about nine minutes, so be sure you save it until you have time, but DO NOT MISS IT!

If the pictures don't bring tears of pride to you Texans, surely the music will!

I went straight to my stash, dug out my Moda Texas fabrics, did a few calculations in my head, ironed the fabrics I had washed before storing, and began cutting the first test block.  I'll be winging it again (usual for me, right?) because I don't have a pattern to follow, and I haven't found any pictures on line I really want to follow.  Sooooooo-----we'll just see what develops, okay?

Here's the first block.

Yes, I know that's not a Texas five-pointed star, but I want to use some fussy cuts in the stars, and I just can't figure out how to do that.  I can make this star in my sleep, so it will work for me for this quilt.

At least now  I know what I will be doing part of tomorrow!  Just couldn't wait to show you.

  1. Texas is on my list, Love. If I ever get the chance I'll definitely visit. In fact I'd like to see all 52 states and pop into a quilt shop or two...or three... I can't wait to see this quilt Love - it's going to be very special indeed.

  4. Oh, Love! I love it! The TX flag is definitely a special flag to me and will always be my favorite state flag because it is simple and yet distinctive - and easy to make! Of course, we have a soft place in our hearts about Texas having lived there over 30 years. The video is wonderful!
