Didn't I tell you it would be different? ---- I think I like it! *smile* ---- So there' my first flimsy for 2015. You can find my inspiration here: //m.youtube.com/watch?v=OQjsUvy3sXU&feature=youtu.be .
When I get it quilted, it will hang in my sunroom (at times), and visible from my front door. Maybe I can start on the quilting next week, if not before.
It is 53" L x 41.5" W. and will have a blue backing. Not sure yet whether I'll bind it in blue or tan, but I'm leaning toward the tan like between the words "Texas".
A friend and I spent Wednesday and Thursday getting the borders on our church quilters' project. The pictures are really bad, but maybe you can get an idea. It is ready to go to the quilter soon. We have lost all our hand quilters, and none of us are daring enough to try to machine it ourselves; it is BIG --- 110" x 98"! ---- way too big for either of my beds! I think it is very pretty, and the colors are right for my room, but.................! (I think maybe I'll insist next time we make one that would fit on my bed.) It will be raffled off in the Fall to pay for the Youth trip during Christmas holidays.

| Way too big for my bed! Hope the winner has a King bed! |

| The color is really off here! The last border is actually light green. The darkest is dark green. |
I guess I better get busy! Got lots to do today, but at least the sun is finally shining, and at 1 PM, it is 48 degrees, much better than the past two days. At least we got much needed 1.5" rain on the cloudy days; for that I'm thankful!
Have fun, all you quilters out there!

That's a mighty fine tribute to Texas, Love. It will look great hanging on your wall. The tan binding would be my pick. Those grand kids grow up so fast and I'm sure he will enjoy his special supper. That charity quilt is huge! Very pretty though but a monster to quilt. Definitely needs someone with a long arm.
ReplyDeleteYour Texas quilt really sings Texas! I love the fussy cut stars. This will be a great quilt to see when you walk in your door.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt for the raffle is pretty. I like the big focus fabric with the pieced blocks, to me it looks like nice weather. Soft, pretty, and warm. I hope you will show it when it is all done.
Oh, yes! I love the Texas quilt! Too bad I never made one when I was living there. I think I'll make me a Texas flag to hang in my sewing room to commemorate the state where I learned to quilt. The raffle quilt is lovely! Our youngest GS turned 4 and we find that hard to believe as well. But, that's the way it works. The weeks are flying by these days. Must be getting old. Hee Hee!
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with the Texas quilt. I remember the bluebells when I was living there...very pretty. The raffle quilt is very nice also.
ReplyDeleteAs for years going by....my grandson is now almost 5!!
Happy Quilting!!
Your Texas quilt is wonderful, it really shows the essence of the state! You did a wonderful job, love the bluebells in the fabrics. The raffle quilt is so pretty, I love the colors. You have been very busy.
