Indeed, this time they had what I needed. Of course, the quality is not quite up to par, but I think it will work for this donation quilt. I cut and sewed all afternoon long, and again today after the necessary daily routine things, and made quite a bit of progress, but still have lots more to do. Remember, I'm a slow old lady! I really did get more done that you see here. I just put this back on the machine so I could get a picture for this post.
Yep, you guessed it! It will be another "Family Rules" wall hanging. I think it will be very appropriate for a youth fund raiser. Don't know why I didn't think of it first.
You can see the gap behind my Viking machine in my Janome's cabinet. So far, it hasn't been a problem sewing those 2.5" squares together. I may have a little trouble if I have to try to quilt the panel on the Viking. The plastic thingy that fits around my Janome won't work around the Viking.
I think I've stated that my Janome is ready for pickup in Fort Worth, but my quilting buddy's isn't. She called them Saturday and was told the needed part won't arrive until April 15! I asked her where they said it is 'being made"! I couldn't believe it! Anyway, as bad as I need my machine to quilt the donation quilt, I just hate to ask her to take me to get mine until hers is ready too. I wouldn't dare try to drive myself there; if I didn't kill myself in an accident, my son would! So.....tonight when he called, I asked when he would be off from his job again. He works a rotating, and ever-changing, shift. He said he could take me next Monday. Then he said he could take me Friday morning since he won't be going in to his job until 4 PM Friday. That's great! We can leave early (for me!) Friday and then get back early enough that he can then rest a few minutes and then go on to work. Now if the sun will just be shining Friday! Rain and storms are coming in tonight before morning, and will last into Thursday; at least that's what the weathermen are saying.
So.....if I get my Janome Friday, and we don't have any more funeral dinners for a few days, I should be able to meet the deadline. We'll see.
Anyway, I had fun Sunday and again today. That big star is looking a little lonely over on the cedar chest all alone, except for the fabric I got to go with it. Maybe soon I'll get back to it, and then next time I get called on for a donation quilt, I'll have it ready.....maybe! I really am wanting to work on it, as well as my Moda Block Heads, which I'll probably do before the star quilt. I'm just wanting to get them done. It's been too long since I've done much sewing and quilting---like last November! And that's too long!
Hope I don't have to make any more changes in plans anytime soon!

Hi Love ,love the colours you have chosen for the wallhanging, hope you get your machine fixed soon xx
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your machine will be home soon. That will really help with your quilting! The change of plans for the quilt sounds like a great idea. Since you have made a similar one before, this one should almost sew itself! Glad you are back to stitching!
ReplyDeleteYou may have had a long break, but you're jumping back in head first! I love the idea of the family rules quilt and it truly is perfect! I'm also glad to hear your son can get you out to pick up your machine so soon! I'll be watching to see finished quilts soon!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to make the "House rules" quilt! The black and white squares will surround it very nicely.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a terrific choice for this project and how fabulous is your sewing space! It will be good to have your favourite machine back.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that you get much more done than I do!!
